These words literally changed my life in 2009. Mike was full speed ahead on opening the floor store and I was working at Marquitz in Troy. He asked me time again to quit and come to work with him. I was completely terrified to do that and frankly, I did not hear God calling me to do that. I carried our family insurance and I made decent money. I was so torn on what to do and had prayed and prayed, and prayed and God remained silent. Late one evening, I went to church, sat in the pew all by myself with no one else in the building opened a hymnal and just started to praise, I didnā€™t know what else to do. After I sang a few of my favorite songs I very audibly heard God say what does a man profit if he gains the world and loses his soul in the end. It was so clear, I looked around to see if anyone else was in the church with me. I knew right then exactly what he was saying the next day I went to work and gave my notice and life hasnā€™t been the same since . Mike and I going on this journey of being partners in life and partners in business allowed me to have opportunities with my kids that I wouldnā€™t have been able to have at any workplace. Iā€™ve often said I think that God spoke to me that night because he needed me to quit singing šŸ˜‚

We will be closed again today and most likely again tomorrow. I was admitted to the hospital yesterday and not getting released again today. Hopefully back to work on Thursday January 2.

Iā€™m seeing that several other businessā€™ are experiencing the same thing we are regarding donations. It is so hard to say no to folks that come through the door asking for a donation of some sort. While we fully believe in giving back to our community, we simply canā€™t anymore.
As for 2024, we will no longer be able to participate in donations of any kind. Moving forward we will as partners in life and business discuss some sort of budget for donations and when itā€™s gone itā€™s gone. More times than not, the folks that come in and seek a donation have never been a customer here much less even given us the opportunity to give a bid. The large stores that people freely shop at are not giving the donations that small businesses do. Not by a long shot.
I appreciate every single person that patronizes our business and refers us to your friends and family!
