As the structure develops, I’m exploring what each element carries into the whole.

Some lines continue. Others are interrupted or begin in one place only to reappear somewhere else. A shift in one part changes the balance of everything around it.

The work is moving toward questions of origin, repetition, and the quiet forces that shape where we stand. I’m not ready to name it yet, but its meaning is becoming clearer.

Before the gold, there was only shape.

Becoming began with the curve of the neck, the span of the wings, and the movement of the tail. From there, color, texture, and glass beads brought the phoenix to life.
