I’ve been having way too much fun creating The Permission Slip Collection because it looks and feels completely different from anything I’ve done before. Brighter colors, a little nostalgia, and a little humor.

Some ideas start with a fragrance. This one started with a sentence:

“I said I want a break, not a breakdown.”

The more I thought about it, the more I realized how many of us are walking around feeling like we need permission to do the simplest things. Take the break. Leave the laundry. Say no. Order dinner. Sit down for five minutes without thinking about what you should be doing next.

That sentence turned into an idea for something a little different for Ember Notes Candles. Something playful, nostalgic, and probably a little too relatable.

Light it, let it fill the room, and as the candle burns down, you’ll eventually uncover a hidden message capsule tucked inside.

Because I wanted Ember Notes to be more than something that makes your house smell good. I wanted it to create a moment.

A reason to slow down.
A little encouragement you weren’t expecting.
Something you can keep even after the candle is gone.

And honestly, there’s just something about knowing a message is waiting for you that makes burning it a little more fun. ☺️

Let's normalize creating little moments that tell our brains, "No more Teams calls today." 🤣

Lighting a candle has become that signal for me. Not because everything is done. Honestly, it never is. There's usually laundry waiting, dishes in the sink, and a to-do list that somehow keeps growing.
But for a few minutes, I close the laptop, silence the notifications, and remind myself that work can wait until tomorrow.

I've realized balance isn't about finishing everything before you rest. It's about giving yourself permission to pause, even when life still feels busy.

I've realized the best thing I can do for Monday... actually happens on Sunday. ❤️

I've learned that when I take a little time to reset before the week begins, everything feels just a bit more manageable.

No, my house isn't spotless every Sunday. I don't always meal prep, and I definitely don't check off every box on this list. 🤣

But taking time to look at the week ahead, clear my mind, and get a few things in order helps me start Monday feeling prepared instead of overwhelmed.

For me, a Sunday reset isn't about having everything together. It's about creating a little more peace before the week begins.

Progress over perfection. Always. ❤️
