Ember Notes started from a simple desire to create moments of calm in busy, full lives. I’ve always believed that small, intentional details can completely change how a day feels. Lighting a candle has a way of setting the tone, slowing things down, and making space to breathe. I wanted to take that feeling one step further by adding something meaningful inside each candle. Last December, I took my kids to a holiday vendor event so we could pick up a few Christmas gifts from local businesses.

There were SO many people. So many booths. So much going on. 🥴🤣

I left happy because we found some great gifts, but I was completely overwhelmed.

I actually told my kids in the car, “There is NO way I’m doing vendor events when we launch our candles.”

Welp. 😂

Fast forward a few months and online sales weren’t getting the traction I had hoped for. I joined a candle business mastermind, and one of the first things my coach recommended was getting out from behind the computer and doing in-person events.

Talk to people. Let them smell the candles. Watch their reactions. Get real feedback.

Basically...go do the exact thing I said I wasn’t going to do. 🤣

So here we are, two months into vendor events, and I am SO glad I changed my mind.

Building this business continues to remind me that sometimes the thing you’re avoiding is the exact thing you need to try.

Meet the candle that started The Permission Slip Collection:

I Said I Want A Break, Not A Breakdown.

This whole collection started with that one sentence. I made it as a sticker first, and the more I looked at it, the more I knew it needed to become a candle.

But I didn’t want to just put it into our signature line. I wanted this collection to feel different. Brighter. More playful. A little nostalgic. And very, very relatable.

Because sometimes you don’t need a full reset. You just need five minutes where nobody needs anything from you.

This Saturday, The Permission Slip Collection will be available online and in person at our vendor event.
