Maybe you've never used a sewing machine, or it's been a really long time. Or maybe you are comfortable with sewing basics but want to learn how to make french seams or a squared-off bottom for a bag. Or maybe you just want a really rugged tote bag for all the books you buy downstairs at .

Whatever the case may be, there is room in this Saturday's tote bag class for you. Signing up on the website is the best way to reserve a spot.

We're using a new tiered pricing structure for our classes now. Pick whichever tier feels comfortable (Supported, Standard, or Community Supporter). And we do also have limited financial aid if you want to take a class but need a little extra financial assistance to do so. Just ask!

Before I opened Bobbin & Skein, I made clothing and sold it at craft fairs throughout New England. If you ever saw me at a craft fair, you'll recognize some of these fabrics from Ella at Wolf & Rabbit Fabrics.

I carry some of them at the shop (which ones should I order?) but you can also purchase directly from her! She's local to the shop, and the fabric is printed on organic cotton spandex using eco-friendly reactive dye methods.

I have FINALLY scheduled September classes! I have also introduced a new rate structure. Each class has three rates: Supported, Standard, and Community Supporter. You can choose whichever tier feels right, no questions asked. We do also still have some financial aid available if you need it. Just ask!

The new 50% tariff on Canadian goods has gone into effect, and it's likely to affect prices in the shop going forward. (Don't get me started on the stupidity of this - we'll be here all day.)

I get quite a few products from Canada, including Brassard weaving yarn. It's a little unclear whether cotton weaving yarn is included in the new tariffs - the code for the yarn doesn't appear in the lists published by the government, but I'm not an expert and things change rapidly.

I'll keep prices the same as long as I can in the hopes that the situation will change, but as a tiny business I can't absorb increased costs for very long.

And remember - craft is and always has been political.

Maybe someday I’ll branch out to wearing other patterns, but for now, I’ll stick with the tried and true Strata top and Chanterelle pants/shorts, both from Sew Liberated - sewing, thrifting + styling. I finished the top just in time for today’s class! It’s made with Art Gallery Fabrics® - AGF rayon, which is lovely to sew and wear.

We’ve been talking a lot about yarn because of the , but these deadstock bamboo cotton jerseys just came in and deserve some love. Sooooo soft, and the cotton content makes them more substantial and easier to sew than a bamboo jersey.

If you need me I’ll be making the best pajama pants ever.
