A basement renovation with High Five from our Rebels Collection by bri emery / designlovefest.

The most asked question we get is ‘can I install your floors over concrete/ slab in a basement?’ And the answer is yes!

For our Rebels, you can either float or full glue-down the floor, provided the concrete is fully cured (at least 50 to 60 days old), flat, and dry.

For a floating installation over concrete, using our Nature All-In-One Underlayment is required to protect against moisture and maintain your warranty.

When in doubt, go Shell.

Shell is the kind of oak floor that works just about anywhere, especially in spaces layered with texture. Its heavily brushed surface brings out the natural grain of the wood, giving it more character and dimension without competing with everything else in the room.

Fika by the sea.

In Amagansett, New York Fika feels right at home.

Its soft, natural oak tone echoes the sand and dune grass just outside the windows, bringing warmth and texture to the design of the home.

And it doesn’t stop at the floor. In the bedroom, Fika travels up to the ceiling, wrapping the space in wood and drawing your eye into the architecture.

It snowed for the first time in the Colorado mountains last weekend, so we felt it was timely to soft launch winter install content.

And who wouldn’t agree that there’s something about a mountain home that just calls for real wood?

For this A-frame in Buena Vista, Colorado, two of our floors are being used in two very different ways.

Greta is going on the floors, glued down directly over radiant heat. We get asked all the time if our floors can be installed over radiant heat, and the answer is yes. In fact, radiant heat is the preferred heating method in Scandinavia, where our floors are from.

Then there’s Moonlight, running up the walls and across the ceilings. Each plank is stapled and glued, then locked into place using our Swedish locking system.

Using wood beyond the floor is a very Scandinavian approach to design, and it feels especially right in a mountain home.
