Finished my newest test tiles today. The biggest lesson I am taking away from this process is strontium carbonate inhibits crystallization. This is for rutile/iron, and black nickel oxide. The most recent tiles are on the bottom and were fired with a 4 hour hold at 1800°. Of the few crystals that formed, the additional time enabled the crystals to obtain visible size.

Results of recent glaze testing. The bottom row of glazes use strontium carbonate, the top row had a controlled cooling schedule. Aside from columns 2 and 3, all the recipes are the same in each column.
