Today, many custom homes are so large that a variety of finishes can be used in the home without conflicting with each other. That scenario was not as common decades ago, or when homes are smaller and less custom. The well-known finishes include chrome, nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, stainless, rose gold, antique brass. Some of those have cycled through the years, so we see them resurface in trends now and again along with a twist on them to make them more unique. When I tour a historic home and see heavy brass fixtures, I just love seeing wear on them knowing they have not only served the home well, but became more beautiful along the way.
