He only stands about 40 inches at the shoulders and loves snacks right out of your hand

Headlines of a "historical" snowstorm have crowds freaking out, again....

There's no doubt you have seen empty store shelves as people brace for this snowstorm, and who remembers the chaos of 2020 when you couldn't find anything in any store? Did we not learn?

I encourage you to stock up on the essentials regularly, not just when the headlines warn of disaster. You don't need pantries full, but I suggest at least a stash of backup at all times. If you can't afford to purchase all at once (many of us can't), buy an extra bag or extra can when you do your normal shopping and set it aside.

My motto: "little by little a lot fills up."

The Essentials:
Flour
Sugar
Eggs
Milk
Fresh water
Salt
Yeast/sourdough starter
Butter/oil

If you have these ingredients, you can make almost anything. These are the basics.

Easy to store items like dried beans, canned vegetables, meat, soups, broth, dried milk, and noodles can all last on the shelf for an extended period of time. Want to store dried goods longer? Store in mylar bags.

I say this with love - Learn to make the basics, save physical copies of recipes, stock up on essentials, and stop relying on someone else to prepare for you. When you rely, chaos ensues.
