These limited-edition treasures are exquisite works of art, featuring intricate motifs hand-detailed with 24k Dresden Gold for a luminous, heirloom finish.

While we often focus on our furniture team’s ability to construct remarkable custom pieces, our pottery studio possesses that same creative drive and capability—frequently meeting and exceeding our customers’ wildest dreams. This latest assignment was no exception. Our pottery studio was recently commissioned to translate the “Unicorn Tapestries”—celebrated masterpieces of late medieval art, onto the surface of a hand-carved vase. It was a formidable challenge to capture the intricate textures of silk and precious metal threads within the medium of clay.

Miranda and the team rose to the occasion with extraordinary skill, and we were honored to deliver the finished work to a delighted client this week. It serves as a testament to an idea we hold dear at ShackletonThomas - if you can envision it, we can bring it to life.

We’ve been incredibly grateful to have Joel Senger as part of our shop since late fall; he has been such a strong addition to the team. Joel hails from Michigan and is a lifelong woodworker who grew up in his father’s wood shop before training at the International Yacht Restoration School. He later returned there to spend almost a decade teaching. Lucky for us, he’s since moved to Vermont to restore an old home and join our shop, where he is helping on some amazing builds.

One of his first pieces here is this beautiful ash bookshelf, built for a client who was kind enough to give us his old bench, a state-of-the-art jointer, and a plethora of other tools and saws. We are thrilled to have Joel on the team and are excited to deliver this elegant, refined bookshelf to our client!

It is hard to believe we are already almost midway through January; the holiday season feels like it was just yesterday! The shop has been a hive of activity as our team focuses on our latest custom builds. We’re currently bringing several visions to life, including a suite of matching hand-carved bedroom furniture and a stunning bespoke bench. Between these larger pieces, we are keeping our shelves full of new, hand-thrown pottery. We feel incredibly fortunate to spend our days honoring the heritage of handmade goods.
