The Story Of (Cole’s Gifts & Stained Glass) Cole Enterprises Inc.
We started in 1981 in the Stained Glass business. Believe it or not I still have my first piece of Stained Glass that I did years ago. My first job was a pair of windows for a dentist office. I have done small homes, and some very large homes multi Million Dollar in Shelby, Tipton, and Madison County. I did a Pool Table Lamp with a pair of Eagle Heads that went to a home up in Indiana, and a home down in Florida, that now has a 45.5” dome, A large door, 4 nice size windows. I did a couple of homes in Shelby County had 29 windows in them and some over that. Those were fun. Mom, Dad, and I designed our home with over 40 pieces of Leaded & Stained Glass in it. Our Stained Glass Studio has a Dome in it that is 96”x96” Signature Dogwood.
I would work in the day, at another job and would sink every other paycheck into our little business. Mom and Dad would build windows that I would come home to the studio we had on Highway 51 years ago in Millington. I would sometimes sit down long enough to eat then work to around 12:00 at night to get my glass work done. Mom sometimes would take me to work with my car or Dad’s Truck and drop me off at work. Then she would drive to Jackson to deliver to my builders up in Jackson, Then pick me up after work. It worked great that way.
We bought a commercial lot in Tipton County and built the studio not long after we built the front half of the building. We added onto the building in 2001, Not all of the building is Stained Glass. My brother has his business in the back.
In November 2013 I had to close my Stained Glass Studio to take care of My Mom (Amby) She had Severe Dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer's, and A-Fib. I lost her on May 1, 2017. It would have been my Mom’s and Dad’s 63rd Wedding Anniversary that day.
