I just finished "Scottish Thistle" for my favorite Scottish person....well other than the Bay City Rollers that is. My hope.with every commission is that I am able to capture their vision, that it warms their heart and makes them smile. It certainly made me smile painting this.

I completed "Heavenly Peonies" for a special woman. When I paint, it's not just a process, I truly feel what it is I'm painting and I hope it comes through in the the piece. Sometimes a painting can be dark, joyful, melancholy, etc. This one was emotional and I certainly felt it as I worked through the details. I hope it is as special to her as it was to me working on it.

Spent a few hours in the studio this afternoon. Paintbrush, music, glass of wine (ok maybe two) and sunshine. Can't think of a better way to kill some time. BTW, stepped outside the comfort zone of nature or landscape painting. My brother Mark Bowen and I decided to paint the same scene in our own styles and mediums. Not a competition, just different visions.
