DO YOU SEE THE FACE?

We do!

PURPLE & White Shaved porcelain mugs are emerging. There are about 25 that came out today, Thursday. The remaining ones will come out this weekend. Unless we make another round this summer (very unlikely), this is your chance to scoop one if you are thinking Christmas 2026.

The mugs are $45 and will likely go up with the next round. We have not changed the price of these since we started making them again, but will have to at some point.

We do NOT put these on our website since they are each too one-of-a-kind. Email if you want us to pick out a mug for you and send it. Include your shipping address. The email is [email protected]

Next up.... Black & White shaved porcelain mugs (we will post and still a few weeks out).

****Reminder that our shipping system sometimes overcharges for shipping. When appropriate we will adjust/ refund the difference from our end****

YEP...IT'S TRUE... TOMORROW TOO!

Actually, we don't close again until Thanksgiving Day.

No, we don't make/ ask anyone work on holidays. That's just how we roll at the Wizard of Clay. It is an advantage of working for a small family run business which has owners who are present everyday. Plus, the potter is here making pieces on the wheel so we stay open 7 days a week, 9-5pm.

So if you are looking for something to do while you wait for clouds to dissipate, we're here for you. So is if a tasty beverage & lunch is what you seek.

Either way, we hope you enjoy your rain free afternoon.

PS... Purple & White shaved mugs should 🤞emerge later this week. We had a few come through, but the rest are on their way. Black and White will likely be mid-June. We will post to FB/IG when it's time.

WE CAN'T MAKE THESE IN MARCH FOR MAPLE SYRUP....

So NOW is the time to think/ plan ahead. Nothing like a 90° May day to get you thinking about cold, snowy, blustery, windy, frigid Maple syrup season.

We only makes these once a year (and sometimes they get skipped). These small pitchers are about 4 1/2" tall and hold 16-20 ounces. Microwave safe, they are great for heating up maple syrup. Don't do syrup? It's ok, you can use it for milk, tea, individual sized sangria, or whatever you want. There are no rules. Well... there is a general nature rule that there are no leaves on trees in NYS in March. So, again, now is the time to get them.

Consider this your notification to snag one. Enjoy the heat while it lasts!

SYRACUSE SALT CO. CLEARANCE SALE

YES, we are still going to be selling this salt. Why? It is AMAZING! It also makes a great gift with one of our salt cellars, or for the chef in your life. This is a small family run business in Syracuse that brought flake salt back to the "salt city".

At this point, they are changing over their jar size and we are caught in the middle of the switch (maybe you saw our FB/IG story yesterday).

So while we wait until the new jars arrive, we have put all remaining smaller jars on sale in the store. Normally they are $9, they are on sale for $7. When the new, larger, jars arrive they will be $10.

Here are pictures of some of the flavors we have left. If you are already a fan, please tell us what YOU do with them in the comments. Maybe you rim your margarita glass with the lime one? Or season your steaks with the smoked flavor? If you don't need salt, we have some really pretty pottery to look at too.

Going to Syracuse soon? Swing into their store We hear they have some new Syracuse Orange salts? Hmmmmmm.... we might have to check those out.

MASKS ARE BACK!

It has been a few years since we have made our funky masks. Call them cool, call them creepy, call them anything you want. But know the potter uses his own face to make these. He does have a good "resting mask face". Maybe it is time to re-post our IG video making them from a few years back?

These are not made to wear, they're made to hang. Hang them in your house or outside. Maybe in the garden or on a pole or tree. Wherever you hang them, we hope you enjoy it! They each have a wire in the back to hang them.

Great gift for those moms/ mom-like figures in your life that like things a little unusual. These are $35 each and are approx. 11" tall give or take... cause... ya know... not all faces are the same size.

Available in the store. Swing in and check them out. Open 7 days a week, 9-5pm.

JUST ANOTHER DAY IN THE LIFE OF POTTERY

A few weeks ago we had a bisque/ bisk kiln over fire. We thought it might be ok, so we went ahead and glazed the pieces. Well... it wasn't ok. Pieces over fired in stage 1 are not as absorbent making it less likely for a bond to form between the clay and 2 layers of glaze.

In the end...over 100 bowls are now in our red-tag/ clearance section. Swing in and check them out!

Now we go back into the workshop and try again.

JUST SAYING….

It’s a little too cold out to open the pool, a little too wet to mow the back lot, and still too early to transfer plants/ veggies outside. So if you are looking for the a nice gift for mom, or a reason to take a nice sunny drive today, we have some really nice pieces in the store. We would love for you to stop in and check them out!

We appreciate you making the Wizard of Clay your pot dealer of choice!

(For those who don’t know, the red piece in the bottom right corner is our popular egg poacher.)

FOR OUR PLANT & GARDENING FANS...

We made, and restocked, our garden stakes. These also work very well inside planters. We put some sets of 4 or 5 on our website, however, there are many more in the store. As always, feel free to reach out by email if you need different ones.

These are another "winter project" we create while we wait for Bristoleaf® season to begin in May.

On our website just use the search words:
Garden
Stakes
Planter
They are item # 783-786

NOTE- We are still having difficulties getting our shipping system to nail shipping prices. If only we sold T-shirts or pencils. WE ARE ADJUSTING/ REFUNDING extra shipping prices from our end when appropriate!

We know... we know... this post is not as exciting as watching the Wizard on the wheel. But some might argue these creations are equally as important. Especially when you plant your garden and forget what it is. Can't really use a post-it note outside😆.

BREAD BAKING CLOCHES ARE OUT.... (bread not included)

This bread was baked by a Wiz fan in one of our cloches though! Thanks Scott for the picture. Looks amazing doesn't it?! Sorry, not sorry, if you are craving fresh-baked bread right now.

We might not include the bread, but we do include 2 recipes for you to get a start with it.

Both sizes are available, HOWEVER, if you want a large one shipped to you, please email us and include an address. Our shipping system can't handle these big pieces accurately so it is best done through the store.

Happy Baking

GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING...

Our amazing pine tree painter did a VERY LIMITED run of soup mugs. These larger soup mugs are perfect for... well... just about anything. Only 10 were painted, and 6 have been put online. We have a few stragglers coming through. Unfortunately 2 soup mugs had some kiln issues so they are in our clearance section.

We had some glaze changes recently and have some things to work through. I think we're nailing it so far! We appreciate your patience as things out of control shift here at Wizard of Clay.

It's bright, and sunny up here on the hill. Swing in any check out some fresh pieces!

Up next... bread baking cloches.
