EDIT: delivery would have been half hour round trip -and I was unable to retrieve the incoming order from the computer until almost 11:30 because of how busy we were - does not change the circumstances at all.

Holidays are always tough as a florist because you do so much business in such a short window but in our current economy things are getting even tougher. We are striving to continue to send out quality product with superior service at a reasonable cost. But then there are some customers that make us question whether we should keep the doors open. All it takes is one or two incidents to ruin what should be a joyful holiday - three in one weekend … one that resulted in a customer writing a nasty review on our Google page is what made me finally write this post.

If you need flowers for an occasion and cannot afford it please talk with us and we will try to work with you. Please don’t order flowers with one of us and then pick them up when the other one of us is working and leave the store without paying because we are busy and you took advantage of the fact that we didn’t check the order form to see it said “pay on pick up”!

If a family member orders you flowers and we deliver them to your home and leave them in a safe place for you to receive when you return home please do not call us and tell us you didn’t get the delivery unless you actually didn’t receive it. Having me send a second delivery person with a second arrangement back out to your home, only to have her see the first one you received when she gets there, is not only a waste of our precious time but is also the same as stealing from my business.

And lastly if you place an order on my website for a delivery (that is going to be more than an hour round trip from the shop) 30 minutes prior to closing on a Sunday of the busiest weekend of the year, please do not post a scathing review on our Google page when we have to politely decline it. I called you to apologize for the website allowing the order to process despite our cut-off time of 10:00 am for same day deliveries on a weekend. I explained that we are normally not open on Sundays and were closing at noon to allow all our delivery ladies to enjoy some of their weekends as they are moms too. I offered to deliver on Monday (which many customers who knew they were ordering very late in the game) accepted graciously. Your email laced with profanity and insults were not necessary or appreciated and for your to leave a 1 star review was completely unfair. I would suggest ordering earlier in the future if not receiving flowers is going to ruin your recipient’s holiday.

This post is long enough - we are small business owners struggling to keep a business afloat - we appreciate all of our wonderful customers that are helping to make that happen - please help spread the word when you receive the love someone sent you in the form of flowers - to counteract the hate we received today. Maybe post a great review to help us out? Thanks all!
