When was the last time you checked your range hood filter? If you love late-summer cooking, that metal mesh screen above your stove has been hard at work catching grease, smoke, and steam.

A clogged filter restricts airflow, leaving smoke and odors trapped inside your kitchen. Most mesh filters can easily slide out and be washed right in your dishwasher on a standard hot cycle! Pop it back in once dry to keep your kitchen air clean and clear.

Late summer warmth can make kitchen odors a bit stronger—and your garbage disposal might be the culprit. Food residue often gets trapped underneath the rubber splash guard at the top of your drain.

Turn the power completely off, lift the flexible rubber flaps, and scrub the underside with soapy water. It takes two minutes and knocks out odors instantly!
