Found a great FB page, "Restore Old Photos". They worked on these for me. The man with the horse is my great grandfather John Fishel . The little girl to the left of the steam engine is my grandmother Alma, his daughter. These were never colored but kind of cool

Have you ever broken something and hoped it could continue to have another life? Mullen’s Folly can help give them that second chance at being useful! Soon we will be hosting our first field trip of students aged 8-14 who will be coming to learn about Mullen’s Folly and experience a hands-on activity of finding artifacts just like I did! Students will be sifting through pre-made buckets of dirt with similar artifacts to those recovered from this site. They will be able to find Redware, stoneware, pearlware, ironstone, shell edge, transferware, buttons, pipe stems, etc. all the quintessential early-mid 19th century ceramics and other artifacts! Accidents happen all the time and if you find yourself in a predicament where you’ve broken something that falls in our timeframe of 1780-1860 and you want them to have a more fulfilling purpose than in the trash, sent them my way!

The thing that ignited my interest in history, antiques, and historic preservation was digging at my parents 1730s house that they restored while I was a little kid. Finding things from 200 years ago was fascinating to me and started a lifetime passion! I hope that this field trip and future ones will help inspire more of the next generation to love what I love!
