Excellent article, a recap of my recent three-day visit to UVA School of Architecture for a workshop and exhibition installation, “10 Things” about me and my practice, is on UVA’s website. Seamless Paper to Installations, my exhibition is part of the School’s programming series titled “Leftovers: Rethinking Waste in Design”, focusing on sustainability, creative reuse, and ethical making in design. This installation recreating my Brooklyn studio with suspended mobiles and photos of my studio covering the walls, in effect a life-size pop-up book, is on view until March 13th. Photos by Tom Daly

UVA School of Architecture has invited me to participate in Leftovers: Rethinking Waste in Design, their Spring 2026 Public Programs and Exhibitions Series focusing on sustainability, creative reuse, and ethical making in design. I installed reclaimed paper sculptures in Corner Gallery which recreates my Brooklyn studio with two wall pictures. In the workshop, we made paper pulp and paper clay, and assembled dried forms with wire in a short one-hour session. Thank you for inviting me UVA, such a pleasure working with you all, and I appreciate that I got to spend some time with the students. My installation is on view at Onna House in SoHo, consisting of several works in white, warm and cool greys, assembled into various sizes, punctuated by the work in deep indigo blue. Also some ceramic sculptures on the tables below. This SoHo loft has the elements and the essence of Onna House in East Hampton. Crisp white, dark wood accents, a welcoming gathering space, art to live with. My work shares the room with a mah-jan table, an active one that the game takes place on. I have never learned to play, though as a kid, I loved those game pieces and the etched graphic symbols on them. They looked like mini kamaboko to me.
