Lighting is a total liar in the showroom, isn’t it? ☀️ That’s why we always do a “dry lay” on-site before a single tile is set. We’re out here making sure the colors, textures, and contrast all vibe together in the actual natural light of the room. It’s all about mapping out where the cuts will land and making sure the transitions between materials look seamless. It might look like we’re just playing with blocks, but catching these tiny details now is where the real magic happens.
Having a designer in your corner for these moments is a total game-changer because, honestly, the details don’t just matter, they are the design.

Design is a game of layering, and textiles are the most underrated tool for elevating millwork.
I love using woven inserts like these because they do so much more than just look good, they harmonize the “hard” lines of the architecture with the “soft” feel of the furniture.

It’s that unexpected texture that invites you to actually interact with a room. When you think beyond just paint or wood stain, you start creating a sensory experience that feels truly bespoke and intentional.

A look into our design process for the Williamsburg Townhouse project.

The main bedroom required a strategic approach to integrate high-capacity storage within a narrow footprint while cultivating a serene, editorial atmosphere. To achieve this, our architectural strategy focuses on balancing rigid, orthogonal geometry with softer, organic elements.

We’ve paired the clean lines of the spatial planning with smooth-edged finishes like the curved ceramic lamps and a hand-applied plaster wall finish to soften the room’s precision. To complete the composition, we integrated artful statements like the bold striped mirror and sculptural ceramic wall art. These pieces act as focal points, adding personality and a curated layer to the tranquil environment.

The Palette:
• Architectural Oak for structural warmth
• Plaster & Ceramics for organic softness
• Artful Statements for a curated, editorial edge
• Ribbed Textures for linear interest

How do you prefer to balance structure and statement pieces in your own home?

The main bedroom required a strategic approach to integrate high-capacity storage within a narrow footprint while cultivating a serene, editorial atmosphere. To achieve this, our architectural strategy focuses on balancing rigid, orthogonal geometry with softer, organic elements.
We’ve paired the clean, straight lines of the spatial planning with smooth-edged finishes such as the curved ceramic lamps and a hand-applied plaster wall finish. This intentional contrast softens the room’s architectural precision, ensuring the space feels structured yet tactile and inviting.

The Palette:
• Architectural Oak for structural warmth
• Plaster Finish for soft depth
• Ribbed Textures for linear interest
• Ceramic Curves to break the geometry

How do you prefer to balance structure and softness in your own space?

Williamsburg Project: The Playroom Concept.
We’re redefining the play space palette for a lovely family:

• The Base: Lively, muted greens for a calm, organic envelope.
• The Contrast: Rich dark blue accents to add depth and anchor the furniture.
• The Softener: Irregular, sculptural white lighting to diffuse the mood and add a touch of the ethereal.

Sophisticated fun is the name of the game.

All eyes on the mudroom. ❄️👀 - read below for design strategies.

With the snow piling up and the temperature dropping, this space is no longer just a pass-through—it’s the most vital room in the house. It serves as the literal threshold between the chaos of the elements and the sanctuary of your home.

In weather like this, your entryway has to work overtime to protect that “home” feeling. It’s the buffer zone where the outside world stops and the cozy begins. But to make it work, you have to design it with the elements in mind.

Rules we keep in mind for creating a high-performance threshold:
• Prioritize Durability: This isn’t the place for delicate finishes. High-gloss wood paneling (like the beadboard here) and patterned tiles are non-negotiable. They shield your walls from wet coats and hide the inevitable salt and slush.

• The Layer Strategy: Winter is a game of layers. You need more hooks than you think—at varying heights—to allow for parkas, scarves, and bags to breathe and dry out. 🧥

• The Color Bridge: Use “moody” earthy tones—like this mossy green—to bridge the gap between the outdoors and your interior. It makes the transition feel natural and grounding rather than a cold shock to the system. 🌿

• The “Drop Zone” Logic: Every mudroom needs a place to land. A sturdy bench for boot-shedding and a clear spot for keys ensures the “mess” of the world stays at the door.
A well-designed mudroom ensures that the “outside” stays out, so your home can remain a retreat.

How is your entryway handling the winter surge? Let’s talk design solutions in the comments! 👇

So happy to see Studio Tove included in this beautiful Architectural Digest piece on the medicine cabinet revival 🤍

We’ve always believed that the most thoughtful spaces are the ones that elevate the everyday. For us, bathroom cabinets aren’t just about storage, they’re about intention, ritual, and designing moments that quietly make daily life feel a little more special. Function and beauty should always go hand in hand.

Huge thank you to the AD team for the feature and the conversation ✨
