"The number one rule when thinking about buying or collecting art is to look at art. All kinds of art. Paintings, sculptures, photography, street art, graffiti, ceramics, textiles, fashion, comics. Look in museums and galleries, look at fairs. Look constantly. Spend hours and days and weeks and years looking. Looking is important because the number one rule when buying art is to buy what you love. You can’t know what you love without having determined what you love and you do that by looking. Buy what you love. Don’t try to “game” the art market or buy with an eye on reselling for a profit. That ecosystem only exists in the upper echelons of the art world." -

If you’re in Long Island City this weekend, Ardent Longing at is a must-see. This two-person exhibition features Chicago-based painter and Brooklyn-based artist and it’s your last chance to experience their work in person.

Though their approaches differ, both artists explore the fragility of structures - architectural, psychological, and existential - and reveal how the built environment mirrors the contingencies of human experience.

Dan Oliver (b. 1963) has exhibited internationally, including in Asia, Europe, and across the U.S., and his recent work continues to explore transformation and impermanence through fire and domestic interiors. Tiantian Lou (b. 1995) works in painting, sculpture, textiles, and printmaking, and has exhibited at international venues including Centre of Contemporary Art, Vancouver; Volta Art Fair, Basel; Shu Museum, Beijing; and Untitled Art Fair, Miami.

New on the blog today! 🌞🌞🌞

I’ve been quiet here lately, but trust me I’ve been working hard behind the scenes (and very heavy on the emails) with so much happening this September. That’s why I’m especially excited to pop back in to highlight an event I’ve been promoting that’s taking place this weekend as Domingo World wraps up its season at .

This is the perfect summer weekend experience - amazing artists and musicians, free to attend, right by the beach, and on a working farm, you really can’t beat it.

Edgemere Farm’s Domingo World series has transformed a half-acre in the Rockaways into something far beyond an urban farm - a space for performance, experimentation, and community. I talked with founders .repasch and .seis to learn how it all began, what it means to create art programming in a place with few venues, and why art surrounded by soil, chickens, and ocean air hits differently.

This Sunday, August 10, from 12–5pm, they’ll close out the 2025 season with an afternoon of music, dance, and photography woven into the farm’s living landscape. Expect Latin rhythms, textile-driven movement, and installations tucked between rows of vegetables.

Free with RSVP, with donations supporting future arts and education programming. Read the full interview and see why Domingo World has become one of the most unique fixtures in the Rockaway arts scene. Link in blog on website. 🌞🌞🌞
