The mudroom is no longer just a pass-through space.

In the mountains and resort towns of Colorado, the mudroom becomes the true hub of the home — the place where the day begins, where the gear lands, and where every season needs a place to belong.

Ski season may have been a little shorter than we hoped this year, but outdoor living in Colorado never really stops. Hiking poles, sun hats, backpacks, boots, fishing gear, coats, coolers, dog leashes, après-ski layers, and summer adventure bags all need thoughtful storage that works as beautifully as it looks.

In our latest journal, we are talking about how to plan and prep for the perfect mudroom — especially in homes where the blueprint already exists.

There is a big difference between designing a mudroom from scratch and designing within an existing footprint. When we are starting from the ground up, we can intentionally plan for the real volume of equipment, circulation, cabinetry, lockers, drawers, benches, charging zones, and seasonal storage a mountain home actually needs.

When we are working within an existing space, the design becomes even more strategic. Every inch has to be studied. What needs to be visible? What needs to be hidden? What gets used daily? What comes out only seasonally? How does the family actually enter, unload, reset, and head back out again?

Our Estes Park project is becoming exactly that kind of space — a tailored hub for coming and going, designed around the rhythm of mountain living and the realities of an active Colorado lifestyle.

Because the best mudrooms are not just pretty. They are hardworking, highly detailed, and designed for the way you actually live.

This bathroom will always be special to me.

It is the project that first got me noticed — and eventually led to conversations and offers from interior design television shows.

And honestly, it makes sense.

Television doesn’t usually want slow, layered, luxury design. They want transformation. They want quick fixes, big color, personality, and that “wait, this is the same room?” moment.

This bathroom had all of that.

These clients had purchased the home as a second residence, and they did not want to replace everything. The flooring was staying. The vanity was staying. The goal was not to gut the room — it was to make it feel alive, personal, joyful, and completely theirs.

So we painted the existing cabinetry this rich emerald green, added tiger’s eye cabinet pulls, and created a custom countertop cabinet that opens like a jewelry box.

And then my incredibly talented carpenter did something so special: he carried the Rocky Mountain skyline mural into the inside of the cabinet, so when you open it, it feels like discovering the lining of a custom dress.

This is where I started in design in many ways — helping people see what is possible without always starting over.

And while my work has grown into full-service interiors, construction-level details, custom cabinetry, and luxury homes, I still believe in this kind of magic.

Because not every room needs to be torn apart.

Not every project needs to be quiet, neutral, or “portfolio perfect.”

Sometimes a room just needs courage, color, clever hands, and someone willing to see what it could become.

And when the client sees it and says, “That is exactly what I wanted,” I know the work did what it was meant to do.

A custom bathroom jewel box for a second home in the Rockies.

When our clients purchased this home as a second residence, they loved so much of what was already there — including the existing flooring and vanity — but the bathroom still needed a layer of intention, function, and luxury.

So rather than starting over, we designed the piece that would make the room feel complete.

Our team transformed the existing cabinetry with a rich emerald finish, added tiger’s eye cabinet pulls, antique inspired cabinet pulls, and designed a custom countertop cabinet with piano hinges for easy, graceful opening.

And then came the detail that made it truly special: our incredibly talented carpenter carried the Rocky Mountain skyline mural into the interior of the cabinet, creating the feeling of opening a large-scale jewelry box.

It is tailored, unexpected, and deeply personal — like the beautiful lining inside a custom dress.

Proof that luxury does not always mean replacing everything. Sometimes, it means knowing exactly where to add the jewelry.

Design Development is where the pretty ideas become a real home.

After we interview our clients, walk the space, study how they live, and establish the schematic direction, we move into Design Development.

This is where we fine tune the details behind the design.

What type of coffee maker do you use every morning?

Where do you want to store your pots and pans?

How do you want your silverware organized?

Where should serving pieces live?

Where can guests help themselves without interrupting the cook?

Where should the beautiful things be displayed, and where should the everyday things disappear?

This is the layer of design that makes a kitchen feel intuitive, personal, and deeply considered.

Because luxury is not just the stone, the cabinetry, or the hardware.

Luxury is opening the right drawer and finding exactly what you need, exactly where it should be.

Memorial Day weekend always marks the unofficial start of summer — but it’s also a reminder to pause, reflect, and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Layered in red, white, blue, texture, nostalgia, and a little Americana spirit. ♥️

Every day we step into someone else’s vision and refine it beyond what they thought was possible.

That is what we get to do.

7,000 of you are here watching that process unfold.

And it is not always pretty.

Spaces are taken apart before they are rebuilt.
Plans are challenged before they are resolved.

But that tension is where the best work comes from.

Thank you for being here to see it.

There’s always a moment in every project where it looks like everything is coming apart before it comes together.

Before.
The in-between.
After.

The middle is where the real work happens. Walls come down. Layouts are tested. Decisions are proven in real time. Surprises are revealed (always!) It’s not polished, but it’s where the integrity of the project is built.

This is also where the right team matters most. Detail oriented. The cleanest job site you’ve ever seen, and city inspectors love him!

I’m incredibly fortunate to work alongside a GC who does not settle. Every detail is pushed, adjusted, and refined until it meets the level the design demands. That level of care is what allows us to take an idea on paper and deliver a finished space that actually lives the way it was intended.

This is how we bring a client’s vision to life. Thoughtfully. Precisely. All the way through.

The Tailored Clubhouse → Entry design solutions

Entry design is rarely given the attention it deserves, yet it is the first moment of arrival and the last moment before you leave.

In this home, we were working with a narrow wall adjacent to the front door. The challenge was clear. Create a shallow landing space that functions effortlessly without interrupting flow.

We designed a custom built-in at just 11 inches deep. It serves as a refined drop zone for keys and daily essentials, while the lower shelf creates a discreet place to tuck shoes when coming in from the gardens or welcoming guests.

This piece began long before installation. We developed a full specification document for the builder to estimate accurately, define the glazed oak espresso finish, and present a clear vision for client approval. What you will see in this post is not only the final result, but the process that made it possible.

Styling was intentional. We often incorporate a silver bowl or box near the entry to invite a sense of openness and positive energy into the home. Here, it sits alongside pieces from our client’s book collection, a touch of greenery, and a grounded vignette that anchors the alabaster and brass pendant above.

Everything has a place. And when it does, the home begins to feel complete.

Before → After | Aspen Creek Transformation | The Sculpted House | Broomfield, CO

This living room always had beautiful architecture — soaring ceilings and an elegant arched window — but the space wasn’t fully living up to its potential.

By simplifying the palette and rethinking the window treatments, we were able to let the architecture take center stage. Soft, tailored drapery panels now frame the arched window and extend the height of the room, while layered window shades provide privacy and light control without interrupting the view.

Updated furnishings and a calm, cohesive palette bring warmth and balance to the space, creating a living room that feels both elevated and comfortable for everyday life.

There’s an old saying in the world of professionally designed window treatments: you do it once, and you only cry once.

Custom drapery is an investment, but when it’s designed correctly — scaled to the architecture, fabricated beautifully, and installed properly — it becomes one of the elements that quietly elevates the entire room for years to come.
