Without a doubt, one of the most rewarding parts of owning a small business is the relationships we build along the way. I’m a one man show 95% of the time for a variety of reasons but last year I took on several big projects and needed a right hand man. I brought on Dillon Scott. He didn’t know a lot about painting but he was coachable and that’s all I needed . From day one he did as I asked and we began the process. It was sink or swim so we covered a lot quick. Soon he was making his own mistakes and that’s where the real learning began. He would have me check something out and I would point out the good and always the not so good. It made him better. He wanted to be better. He wouldn’t give up. He began cultivating a craft. As the end of the year approached it was time for the one man show to resume so I could continue cultivating my craft and I kicked the bird out of the nest. I told him to just start painting. If ya do that you don’t have to get a “real job”. A little reluctant, he did and now welcome Scott & Co. Painting!!! What an honor to play a small role in providing the world with another quality craftsman.
