For over 20 years, our porch swings combine the proven design and construction of the timeless sailor's hammock with contemporary fabrics and colors to create your perfect place to relax. The idea to create this new classic was conceived of in May 2001 on a sparkling spring day while on the porch of a classic Maine summer cottage in Penobscot Bay. "Gloucester Hammocks," as this style was called at
the turn of the century, were very popular and could be found hanging from covered porches on camps, summer cottages and cabins all over New England. When summer houses overflowed with friends and family escaping the heat, the hammocks were often used for an extra bed. Our hammocks made their debut in 2005, to the delight of people who had fond memories of the older swings, as well as those who were seeing the design for the first time.
