"Gin" and Carl McDonald Started it All
Hesitation Station was opened in 1939 as Texaco Station and store located in Buchanan Dam, Texas. Upon the completion of Buchanan Dam, the need for a gas station and a store of any kind that had groceries, fishing supplies and feed was apparent. In response to that need Carl McDonald built the Texaco Station by hand in 1939. Together with his wife Virginia, w

hile raising their family next door, they ran the station and store until they sold it in 1982. In 1992 the property was repurchased by their daughter, Jeannette Babin. In 2004 Jeannette and her husband, Wayne, renamed the business Hesitation Station and opened it as an antiques, collectibles and primitives store. In 2016 Jeannette took on a friend as a partner, Lauri Martin. Jeannette and Lauri have big plans for Hesitation Station. The store is getting a bright new look along with plenty of new, unique finds! In addition, Hesitation Station will now have an internet presence (like the one you're reading right now!) to get the word out about our little shop in Buchanan Dam. Please be sure to check back often for our weekly postings and special events, and definitely...come check us out! We are on the way to Fredricksburg...just a little store to "stop and shop"!

Hesitation Station will be closed this Friday February 16th, but we will be open next Friday 23rd, 9am-5pm as usual, so please come see us!

This year we will be closed the third Friday of every month. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing you the other Fridays of the month! And don’t forget, we are ALWAYS open Saturdays 9am-5pm.
