First sewing machine workshop was an absolute blast last night!

Thank you Dove & Olive for teaching us the magic of reverse appliqué and bringing the coolest patches. Shoutout to TYRIS for being the camera man and sharing lots of creative inspiration. They are both fantastic upcycle artists!

It was so fun having a table full of sewing machines and laughs all evening. Good motivation to get the last few projects upstairs finished to be able to offer a better studio experience. Looking forward to having sewing machines running around here far more often very soon.

The tedious side of the job…

I picked up a bag of what I thought was a bunch of little faux flower bouquets.

As I started to pull those out, I found funky little puffy patches.

Then I noticed the white rings, jingle bells and colorful pacifiers.

Then came the hair clips, pin backings, safety eyes, and miscellaneous hardware.

And finally, I saw there were a bunch of beads at the bottom of the bag. (Plus some tiny nails. Use caution when reaching into bags of who knows what!)

While a mixed bag like this might have been picked up by a super creative adventure hunter excited by the assorted treasures, we can add value to the items by sorting them back out. Each category is more likely to find its next home, rather than stay in the mystery bag for eternity until someone far less curious and patient decides to chuck it into the trash because it looks like a bunch of junk.
