Latest projects.

Just got an order for 10 of these plaques. 5 12in, 3 with clocks and 4 18in, 3 with clocks. For the eagle I apply an adhesive sublimation paper, then cut out the shape. After the shape is cut I sublimate the image onto it. Makes for a very clean look. The other pieces are all individually cut out, painted and assembled.
The 5 I am showing here took about 4 hours to produce, including sanding, applying double sided tape, alignment on the laser bed and ultimately cutting. I did all of that yesterday.
Today I cut out the backer boards (not pictured) and engraved with my "Kennedy Laser Works" logo and cut the hole to mount the clock mechanism. I then separated and sorted each piece by the color it is to be painted. Of course the last sheet turned out to have a glue pocket and didn't cut all the way through in spots, so I scrapped it and made another one. About 40 minutes of prep, alignment and cutting. Total time spent today, about 4 hours.
I'm really excited to get these painted and to get started on the 18in version. I recently upgraded my laser to a 36in bed and this is the first time I will be using it to cut such a large piece. My delivery of 20x20 baltic birch plywood from ocoochhardwoods.com is scheduled for tomorrow, right on time to get cutting the 18in pieces! I can't wait! :)
