We’re pretty excited about what’s happening at the Quinlan

Every other Tuesday, we get to spend time in the galleries, actually look at and talk about art, and then take those ideas into the studio to make something of our own.

Yesterday, we even got the opportunity to meet Armando Chacón, whose art will be featured in the Fall Exhibition, which opens tomorrow (the opening reception is at 5:30).

Our next Homeschool Day will be September 1, and we still have space for your young artists! https://theartroomcollective.org/homeschool-days-foundations/

What can you learn about art from a pile of leaves? 🍃

It turns out, a lot!

Today in Art FUNdamentals, we used leaves to explore the Elements of Art: line, shape, color, form, texture, and value. We created tracings and rubbings and discovered how much there is to notice in something as simple as a leaf.

Six-year-old Allie chose these gorgeous colors and some seriously great leaves for her artwork. We love seeing kids make creative choices and build real art skills along the way!

Next week, we're kicking off our color unit. 🌈

Want your child to join us? Art FUNdamentals is where serious skills meet serious fun.

Today we received a MOUNTAIN OF DONATIONS! 🏔️

Thank you so much to our Toddler & Me parents! We appreciate every family who shows up each week and supports us.

We’ve already filled many of our new containers with supplies, and we’re officially brainstorming what our next toilet paper roll project will be!

Your donations make it possible for us to keep creating, exploring, and making art together. And today, we put some of that creativity to work with dino art! 🦖

Missed us today? No worries. We’ll be here next week. And you might even spot some of these donations in action!

One of our favorite things about teaching art is seeing what kids do when you give them the space to actually be artists.

Not everyone makes the same thing. Not everyone approaches a project the same way. And that’s exactly the point.

These works in progress are both trees! And they look completely unique from one another.

Our classes are about learning real art skills, experimenting, making decisions, and figuring out what you want your artwork to say.

We’ve been loving seeing the work coming out of our classes lately. This is why we do what we do.

Join us next week! https://theartroomcollective.org/our-classes/

HEY HOMESCHOOL FAMILIES! 🎨

We’re adding a new Art FUNdamentals class on Mondays at 2:00 PM for ages 4-10 just for you!

Art FUNdamentals is all about learning real art skills while having a lot of fun making things. We’ll explore things like line, color, shape, texture, value, and form through hands-on projects.

And if Monday at 2 doesn’t work for you, we still have spots open in our other Art FUNdamentals classes!

Come join us and make some art! 🎨

There is still time to stop by and see this exhibition!

We are so proud of our Program Director, Meggie Dant Friend, and her two pieces that are currently being displayed at the Quinlan. If you come to the Closing Reception, make sure you bump into her and say hi 👋

Join us for the Closing Reception of I Am Multicolored: The Human Connection at Quinlan Visual Arts Center as we celebrate this powerful exhibition and the artists whose work explores identity, community, and our shared human experience.

Spend the evening connecting through art, meeting the artists, and experiencing the exhibition one last time before it closes.

Today was our very first Homeschool Day at the Quinlan! 🎉

We explored the galleries, talked about how artists use line to communicate ideas (check out the different kinds of lines in the picture!), and we explored how different pieces of art make us feel. We even invented a new word! "Funness." As in, this piece of art has a lot of funness ❗❗

Then we headed to the studio, where they put what they learned into practice by creating original artwork inspired by the day's lesson. There was a lot of funness in the studio, too.

We love seeing students slow down, observe, ask questions, and make connections between the art they see and the art they create.

There are still spaces available in Session One, and we'd love to have your young artists join us next time! Come learn, explore, and create with us.

Sign up today, and we'll see you at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center! 🎨
