The Civic Season, observed between Juneteenth (June 19) and Independence Day (July 4), is an emerging annual initiative to learn history, build civic skills, and participate in community activities. Below are the first five ideas from a list of hundred actions to increase public engagement. Most are family-friendly and foster 2-gen civic literacy. Enjoy!
1. Visit a museum.
2. Get a library card.
3. Talk to someone who disagrees with you.
4. Register to vote.
5. Attend and give public comment at a city council or school board meeting.
