I’ve been finding a new world of expression through sculpture - I’m pretty sure it’s just my inner world but the landscape looks different now. New forms engrained with memories. A purging of what I don’t need to hold taking shape into something new.

Endless possibility from endless failure. In the process of making pots there are many mess ups. Pieces that aren’t quite right and flops that happen on the wheel. There’s also a lot of excess clay that gets trimmed off to refine the shape. Before the kiln comes into play, the clay is endlessly recyclable (as long as you’re adding new clay into it with some regularity) all of the mess ups and trimmings get slopped together and re-wedged to become usable again. I love this about clay - it’s creation and destruction pattern. How many pots was this lump of clay a part of before now.

Throwing lines are the little ribs made from the fingertips of the potter pulling the piece up into being. From a clump of clay to a form, the clay gets pulled upward in a repetitive movement. The closer the throwing line, the more thorough the compression on the wall of the piece. Even and complete compression makes for a stronger piece. And they’re just so lovely - so real and tactile. The story of the pots making right there for you to feel and see. Often only found on the inside of our pots, these are not to be hidden or ashamed of - they are to be praised like the uniqueness of a finger print or the crystals in a snowflake.

This very cool feature talks about , the country’s first terracotta manufactory that paved the way for the blues and teals we see in the mainstream today.

Our Venus Vessel from The Goddess Collection has a small little feature in this article alongside some really incredible artists. The blue tones folding perfectly into the content of the piece.

To have a piece of mine grace these pages feels unreal. Being in even in a tiny way was a goal I would never name, that I didn’t think I could ever hit. I’m gonna try to be slow with this one.

Sitting on the floor sanding pots. I thought about growth. Expansion into new spaces mentally and physically. That pully feeling of parts of you growing before the rest are ready. The tension and pressure of enough work done when the items on the list are forever long. Rest/balance - work/momentum. Fingers crossed for orchestrating inner and outer worlds that feel good to exist in 🤞🏼
