Life is always busy and fast, especially when you have children. They grow up quickly and no matter what, you wish you could go back in time. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices to give your children the best quality of life possible.

For the last 5 years, we loved making custom gifts and heirlooms for you and your families. The friends and relationships we made with people in our community through our business have been truly treasured.

If you don't know, we had our second little boy back in December. Having two young boys running around this house all day is what life is all about. But it can be stressful and difficult to accomplish tasks for the business when their needs must come first. Juggling a full-time job, having a family and running a small business has been very overwhelming. This past year, with only the two of us staying on top of custom orders, keeping the store stocked and communicating with customers has been nearly impossible. Therefore, we decided as a family that it is in our best interest to take a break from our store for a few years. Hopefully you will understand our decision to temporarily close our shop.

You will still be able to find our products. We will have our current inventory of signs and other items available at The Willow Workbench (New Public Page). Owners Petie & Steph are very talented makers and very friendly people. They have been very gracious to help us out during this time and allow our products for sale amongst their own. You can find them at 29 West Market Street, Lewistown.

We will not be doing custom orders from now until further notice. However, you may see a few new products from time to time at The Willow Workbench as well as seeing us at some local events during the holidays.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to soon being able to get back to MAKING at Makers Den!

Hello Everyone! We had some questions about where we will be setting up soon and new products. Our next event we will be attending is the Sip & Shop at The Lewistown Rec Center on May 4th.

We will be bringing lots of new products and be bringing our newest addition of products, Makers Den Game Calls. So bring the husband along and try out some our new turkey pot calls. If you havent yet, give our game calls page a follow or tag your favorite hunter/outdoorsman.

As a kid I still remember early spring moutain rides with my parents. The first time of the year to have your window down and breathing in that fresh air. My dad would always make stops at pulloffs to get out with a game call and locate any turkeys in the area. I still remember having to be very quiet getting out and standing with him, which was tough to do as a kid. Having two boys of my own now I know the frustration my father must have felt. For any non-turkey hunters, my Dad would then try to get on those birds the next morning based upon where they were roosting that evening.

I loved the outdoors and trout fishing as a kid, but I never got into hunting of any sort until these last few years. I never liked the thought of killing something, but now I see it in a different light with much thanks to my wife and knowing that God put creatures here for us to harvest and survive. Any creature I would and do kill does not go to waste and provide the most natural god given meal I can give my family, which is hard to do in today's world.

I wish I would have gotten into hunting at a much earlier age to build those memories with my father rather than waiting til my early 30's to start. I am always forcing my oldest boy who is 4 years old to get outside and get dirty. I will not force my boys into anything but they will definitely be outside learning hands-on and understanding the value of hardwork.

Last year, I decided to give my hand at combining my love for woodworking with my newest found interest of turkey hunting. I made a few crude prototypes of potcalls and strikers. And when I say a few, I mean enough pot calls and strikers for my boy to have everywhere in the house and my wife to trip over. I killed my first bird last year with my own potcall and striker, which was by far one of the most self gratifying experiences of my life.

I finally have my first product that I feel very confident in holding and using myself. I will be making these upon request for pre-order with minor custom options available with more products to come as well. Shown here is The Double-Face Glass Over Slate Pot Call with Hickory Striker.

Turkey season is in 4 weeks, so anyone interested in purchasing is more than welcome to set up an appointment and stop by the shop (416 8th Avenue, Burnham PA) to test out the available options.

Building handmade goods from locally sourced materials is something we take great pride in. The majority of our wood products are sourced from Belleville, Lewistown and McAlisterville.

We have lots of great local history here in Mifflin County, which we are working on showing off in our storefront. Here's a few of the many examples.

We plan on opening the store back up possibly this coming weekend. Our storefront is getting a minor facelift and will be featuring lots of new products.
