we hosted a private teacher fall wreath event with GardenMontana LLC this weekend… and in true me fashion, i took hardly any footage.

i’m terrible at “content” because i lose my phone the minute the creating starts. and honestly, that’s kind of the point. olive maGoo’s has become less about churning out flowers and more about slow experiences that pull people out of their comfort zones and into their inner picasso.

our wreaths start from scratch: freshly cut branches, a base built by hand, muscles (and parts of your brain) you didn’t know you had. only then do we decorate.

it’s a trust-the-process kind of journey, and watching people realize what they’re capable of is why wreaths now mean as much to me as arrangements.

Nobody pins funeral flowers. Wedding florals always express the notion: “look how beautiful this can be.” Funeral flowers say something quieter. They are there to hold what people can’t say out loud.

One of my favorite things about flowers is their symbolism. Each stem for this headstone-hugging arrangement was picked to symbolize something… all the way down to the yarrow that’s been used for millennia to usher our loved ones to a safe passing. Grief, like this wild space, doesn’t ever stay tidy. Nor should memorial flowers.

Maybe that’s the point I’m trying to make here. Flowers remind us how to live, and also go.

my post-Mother’s Day social-content break accidentally turned into the most blissful extended time away from this account. did I stop playing with flowers? never.

sometimes when an element of the passion becomes forced (ahem - posting), it takes the life out of it. it’s been a glorious summer of stems. one in particular that I’ve become obsessed with is argostemma. Case Ko brought some back from Montana Flower Collective when we slung a big wedding in June… since then it’s been a fan (aka me) favorite.

it’s so dimensional, yet so simple. it lasts. its movement is sturdy, yet flowy. all the things I strive to be, it blossoms into.

more from my time with Casey later. for now, let’s drool over how delicately perfect this argostemma is and then add it to our annuals list for next year’s residential yard lineup.

most of the reasons we say no to small beautiful things aren’t really reasons; they are just habits. this is your gentle nudge to notice that. 💛
