Montana Timber Products is an environmentally conscious specialty saw mill in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Utilizing state of the art technology, direct sourcing, and a stream lined distribution network, Montana Timber Products has redefined the specialty lumber industry. We source our timber locally from private land owners and small sawmills. Private land owners selectively harvest dead standing timber in order to reduce forest fuels and improve the health of our native forests. Purchasing from small sawmills who work with State and Federal agencies has played a very important role selectively harvesting dead standing timber which drastically reduces the chances of catastrophic wild fires in Montana. Utilizing these 2 strategic harvesting methods results in no clear cutting, preserves old growth forests, increases wild life habitat, and reduces negative impact on delicate soils and water sheds. Sourcing local dead standing timber helps us to reduce transportation costs, lower inventory costs, and supports the local community. Reducing these costs and sourcing locally enables us to focus on customer service, quality control, reduce lead times, and pass significant savings on to our customers. Wood is one of mother natures only 100% natural and renewable resources. Trees are natural store houses for carbon. By removing forest fuels and reclaiming dead standing trees prior to catastrophic fires, reduces the risk of carbon being released into the atmosphere. When properly produced, wood products are one of the only carbon neutral building material available. Being good stewards of our natural resources and utilizing 100% of what we harvest has made Montana Timber Products an industry leader in forest stewardship. Mission:
We believe we’re here to be good stewards of our environment and natural resources; to be a positive model to our customers, friends, and family; and create a legacy we can pass on to our children and future generations.

Minimalist curb appeal, unlocked. ✨🚪

For this Corona del Mar build, the design team utilized our vertical Aquafir™ Hazelnut Cedar to completely conceal an oversized garage door within the clean, low-slung facade. This continuous wood siding then flows seamlessly straight into the central courtyard, perfectly blurring the lines of indoor-outdoor living.

From the initial samples to the final stunning reveal! 🪵✨

We absolutely loved watching Jordyn Smith of share her material selection process on her Instagram stories. She had a clear vision for her family’s new Idaho lake cabin: a cozy minimalist aesthetic requiring the perfect balance of light natural wood and striking dark accents.

She ultimately chose our ranchwood™ Yellowstone and paired it with our deep, rich Charwood™ Midnight. The result is a high-contrast exterior that flows seamlessly into an incredibly warm, organic interior. It is the ultimate everyday backdrop for her lifestyle brand.

Our latest project in Lancaster County, PA features our ranchwood™ Artisan, a stunning two-tone palette 'Homestead' primary siding framed by 'Dusk' accents. But on a bluff overlooking the Susquehanna River, aesthetic appeal is only half the battle.

With Pennsylvania’s primary snowfall hitting hard between December and March, this home was engineered to stand up to brutal Nor'easters and freezing river winds.

Winter-Ready Substrate: We use Select Tight Knot (STK) Western Red Cedar, a species naturally stable enough to handle the intense freeze-thaw cycles of the Northeast.

Zero-Peel Performance: Unlike traditional paint, our Artisan finishes won't peel or flake under the stress of heavy winter storms.

Revitalizing the Penguin Exhibit 🐧

How does our Aquafir™ Cedar wood siding hold up after 7 years in the elements? We headed to Lafayette, Indiana, to find out.

Columbian Park Zoo just completed a maintenance refresh on their penguin exhibit. Because our SEAL ONCE finish penetrates the wood rather than sitting on top, the crew was able to reapply without any stripping or sanding.

Check out the before & after photos at our blog.

Wrapped in our ranchwood™ Western finish, the home features chinking details that make it look like a gingerbread cabin come to life. From the massive live edge timber trusses to the warm glow of the windows, every inch of this estate was built for making memories.

This rec room interior features our AquaFir™ White Cedar, the smooth finish chosen specifically to mimic the look of driftwood.

In the Pacific Northwest, where grey skies are common, this whitewashed texture acts as a natural reflector. It captures every bit of available daylight, keeping the high ceilings airy and the mood lifted, even on the cloudiest afternoons.
