Montana Timber Products is an environmentally conscious specialty saw mill in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Utilizing state of the art technology, direct sourcing, and a stream lined distribution network, Montana Timber Products has redefined the specialty lumber industry. We source our timber locally from private land owners and small sawmills. Private land owners selectively harvest dead standing timber in order to reduce forest fuels and improve the health of our native forests. Purchasing from small sawmills who work with State and Federal agencies has played a very important role selectively harvesting dead standing timber which drastically reduces the chances of catastrophic wild fires in Montana. Utilizing these 2 strategic harvesting methods results in no clear cutting, preserves old growth forests, increases wild life habitat, and reduces negative impact on delicate soils and water sheds. Sourcing local dead standing timber helps us to reduce transportation costs, lower inventory costs, and supports the local community. Reducing these costs and sourcing locally enables us to focus on customer service, quality control, reduce lead times, and pass significant savings on to our customers. Wood is one of mother natures only 100% natural and renewable resources. Trees are natural store houses for carbon. By removing forest fuels and reclaiming dead standing trees prior to catastrophic fires, reduces the risk of carbon being released into the atmosphere. When properly produced, wood products are one of the only carbon neutral building material available. Being good stewards of our natural resources and utilizing 100% of what we harvest has made Montana Timber Products an industry leader in forest stewardship. Mission:
We believe we’re here to be good stewards of our environment and natural resources; to be a positive model to our customers, friends, and family; and create a legacy we can pass on to our children and future generations.

Our latest case study features Thermally Modified Southern Yellow Pine in AquaFir™ Cascade.

Built by Living Stone Design + Build, this project utilizes a custom triple-fluted profile, which conceals fasteners within recessed grooves so continuous vertical shadow lines flow seamlessly from the exterior facade straight into the interior stairwell.

Structural steel, concrete, and large glass windows are essential for high-traffic buildings, but they can easily make a public space feel cold and clinical.

For the Missoula YMCA remodel, Paradigm Architects and Quality Construction Co. completely flipped that script.

By wrapping the exterior soffits in our smooth AquaFir™ Brown Tongue & Groove cedar and running it directly through the glass line into the main lobby ceiling, they created a seamless, organic flow. The natural timber completely strips away the coldness of the industrial framing, greeting members with immediate warmth.

Built for Beauty. Engineered for Safety.
Because commercial public spaces demand strict safety compliance, these exterior soffits were factory-finished with FX LumberGuard XT fire protection. This delivers critical flame-spread resistance without hiding or altering the rich, natural aesthetic of the cedar grain.

It is a perfect example of modern commercial design proving public utility doesn’t have to sacrifice beauty.
