Day 5 of 100 days of doing something....

Day 2 of the 100 days of summer. We walked around the Idaho Veteran's Cemetery. There is such an overwhelming feeling of gratitude to see the number of Idaho men and women who were willing to give the ultimate sacrifice. The views of the valley were amazing.

Nine years ago I was challenged by my life long friend Shana Miller to 100 days of activity. Any activity, just had to do something every day. She has been walking thru one of the biggest battles of her life this past year. In honor of her I am committing to 100 days of activity this year. Who will join me. Your daily activity can be anything... A walk, help a neighbor, stop and pray for someone, swim, anything. Just do something. Please do this with me. Share this if you like.

I have started this post several times in the last 24 hours. I am just struggling to put my thoughts into words

I want to start by saying to our police officers, deputies and troopers you are valued.

After hearing about the horrific loss of an Ada county deputy, we went next door to visit our neighbor. He is a retired police officer from another state. We talked about how common these tragedies are nationwide, but not in "My Idaho." He pulled up a social media page and showed me how many officers have been lost just in the last 7 days nation wide. He said this doesn't happen here in "My Idaho" because we still value and respect the police. That hit me to my soul. It's been almost 30 years since Idaho has had such a tragedy. And this should not have happened. Not in "My Idaho." The part I can't get past is "we still value." We need to get back to the value these officers bring to us. Get back to the respect we would given just by seeing the uniform. A few bad apples does not have to ruin the way we view the orchard. I have been truly working on being the change I want to see. I am done complaining about things without being willing to be part of the change I want to see.

Please, I beg all of you to tell an officer they are valued.

Prom season is quickly approaching. Don't forget to order your corsage and boutonniere sets. $40 set. Why pay for flowers that will wilt by the end of the night. My wood flowers will last as a forever souvenir.
