Laughter echoed, stories were shared, and the Calico Rock Artisan Gift Shop and Museum settled into that easy, familiar rhythm of connection.

We are deeply grateful for the fun, the fellowship, and the heart each of you brought into the room-our artisans, our staff, and every guest who walked through the doors.

These are the moments that stay with us…

Thomas Brook is a self-taught wood collage artist who has called the Calico Rock area home for the past year and a half. A creative spirit his entire life, Thomas spent years channeling that energy into a career as a chef, a craft that, like his art, demands both precision and an instinct for beauty.

His journey into wood collage began simply enough: his sister-in-law wanted a barn quilt made of wood, and Thomas built her one. That first piece opened a door he has never looked back through. Inspired by the barn quilt trend and captivated by the natural character revealed in each crosscut of wood, Thomas found a medium that speaks directly to who he is.

His process is as organic as the material itself. He cuts each shape by hand, burns the wood to bring out its grain and texture, then applies paint not as a coat of color but as a stain, layered and blended so the wood’s natural beauty remains at the heart of every piece. He mixes his own colors and lets them take on a life of their own. Thomas calls his creations wood collages, and each one is bold, geometric, and entirely one of a kind.
