What’s our favorite pop of color??? ☘️ Green. It’s always green. Adding greenery to vases or incorporating things like real or faux trees will help your space feel more finished. If you feel like you are missing color in your space, use green. It’s still neutral feeling but adds so much to a room.

We talk a lot with our clients about save vs. splurge. For a kitchen, plumbing should always be a splurge. No one wants a water leak or plumbing problems from crappy plumbing with cheap parts. To save in this space, we chose to do more affordable white perimeter cabinets and then we did a custom built island with a custom stain color.

The year was 2 0 1 6…. A couple of new best friends who had a passion for interior design started an Instagram for fun. With a background in real estate we would hone our design skills by staging our listings. We would help out Target by making their displays look way cuter. We would buy a bunch of stuff to decorate our own houses and take pictures. We had our two 2 year old boys (both named Hudson) in tow for all our adventures. Can’t believe it’s been 10 years, but we are so blessed that we started Dream Nest.

Repeat after me… “I don’t need to keep funky things a builder has done to my house”. We often have weird openings or walls that don’t make sense at all. It’s perfectly okay to close up a wall and make a space more functional. In this kitchen we were able to add a large pantry area by removing the pass through to the dining room. Sometimes it’s hard for clients to understand why we want to change things like this, but trust us…it’s usually so much better in the end.

Something about taking down all the holiday decor really makes me want to organize and rearrange things. It’s almost like a nice fresh start once all the Christmas things are put away and you can decide what goes back or what doesn’t. Our advice is to be intentional about what decor you buy and just don’t purchase something because it’s cute.

It’s nearly one month out from Christmas and I’m feeling the pressure. The pressure to be prepared and I’m not. Every yeah feels like it sails by even faster than the last. Is it just me? Today was windy and chilly and it felt like the right day to start taking the decorations out. I need a good Hobby Lobby trip to finish it off.
