📢 BIG NEWS FOR OUR COMMUNITY & CUSTOMERS! 📢You have already heard the rumors that some of our local fairs are cancelled this year due to the state's Revive I-70 construction. While, true that INDOT cannot issue permits for events directly on US 40 right now, we want everyone to know: we are moving forward, and things will be even better! Yes, the I-70 lane restrictions will force thousands of extra-wide loads and highway traffic right past our doors on the National Road. But a road detour cannot stop our community spirit. In fact, we have an incredible opportunity to reinvent these family traditions and reunions into something more spectacular than ever.
We have fantastic resources right here in town to utilize in times like this. By pivoting our local shows, festivals, and Canal Days off the highway and onto our historic downtown streets (like Foote Street) and into Creitz Park, we get to enjoy an incredible expansion! Creitz Park is a beautiful local gem that creates a safe, scenic, and walkable corridor stretching all the way from the fairgrounds right into our downtown. This new layout means our events will be safer for pedestrians, easier to navigate, and even more inviting for the thousands of tourists who love visiting our town every year.
Change we can't control can be tough, but wonderful things are yet to come! We are ready to pull together, get involved, and turn an unfortunate roadblock into an unforgettable community triumph.
