At Milk & Honey Group, we believe the most meaningful homes aren’t built from scratch; they’re layered with the pieces that already tell your story.

While you’re partnering with us for a full transformation (far beyond a simple paint change), our process always begins with understanding what you already have. During initial consultations and site visits, we take inventory of furnishings, artwork, and heirlooms you’d like to incorporate. From there, we thoughtfully evaluate each piece, does it stay as is, get reupholstered, reframed, or even reimagined in a different room?

Every design plan we create is tailored room-by-room, but always with the bigger picture in mind—ensuring cohesion throughout the home. A rug might find a better scale in an office, a sofa may need new life through upholstery, or a piece of art might finally get the framing it deserves. We show you exactly how and why these decisions work within your overall design.

For this home, the sitting room became a place of true respite, anchored by deeply personal elements. A record player passed down through generations, a beloved coffee table, and a striking Brazilian headdress, reframed and displayed, brought soul and story into the space.

Because at the end of the day, we’re not designing showrooms, we’re creating homes that feel lived-in, layered, and entirely your own.

The exterior transformation of our Little Compton Beach House is incredible.

What was once a narrow, limiting footprint is now a home designed to maximize square footage, natural light, and the full experience of New England living. We reimagined the layout to create a stronger connection between indoors and out, adding expansive dining areas and layering in French doors to open the home to its surroundings.

Rooted in the character of historic New England architecture, we preserved and incorporated cedar shingles and crisp white trim—materials that age beautifully and feel timeless in this coastal setting.

Next up: bringing this vision inside. Will the homeowners be in by summer? Stay tuned.

A bathroom renovation is one of the most impactful ways to elevate both daily living and long-term value.

By rethinking layout, improving storage, and layering in better light, even small spaces can feel more functional and intentional. Here, warm finishes, custom millwork, and natural light transform a once-utilitarian room into a calm, restorative retreat.

It’s not just an update, it’s an investment in how your home lives and feels every day.

The exterior construction of our Little Compton Beach House is almost complete!

We’ve completed the largest phase of this full-home renovation and are keeping the momentum going all spring. The home itself has been reimagined into a rectangular footprint, which required a new bump-out on both the first and second floors at the rear of the house where the original deck once sat. Existing windows were relocated to align with the new layout, the new roofline has been carefully concealed, and the entire exterior is now wrapped in  sheathing, a water-resistant barrier that helps protect the structure and extend the life of the plywood beneath.

Next up is the new sun porch addition at the home’s entryway. It will feature a matching roof pitch to mirror the main structure, along with pillars and railings designed to stay cohesive with the new exterior trim details. Just around the corner, the existing deck has been renovated and expanded to accommodate the new footprint. The home will now feature three sets of double sliding doors with full tempered glass, bringing in natural light and framing everything Little Compton is known for, ocean air, the sound of waves, and plenty of sunshine.

Slide to the end for the full walk-through.
Milk and Honey Group is now taking on new projects for 2026. Send us your home, or your future beach house—and let us help reimagine what it could become.

The Making of a Kids’ Bathroom — NO. 127 LC

Designed for everyday use but filled with personality, this kids’ bathroom in our Little Compton, Rhode Island beach house brings together playful coastal colors with clean, timeless design. Bands of soft blue and sunny yellow tile wrap the shower walls, bringing in the feeling of ocean and sunshine while keeping the palette bright and energetic for a space used by kids. Clean lines and simple materials keep the room feeling fresh and uncluttered, while modern boho touches, like open towel cubbies, light textiles, and relaxed styling, add warmth and approachability.

Practical details were just as important as the design. Built-in shelving keeps towels organized and within reach, while the glass shower enclosure allows light to move through the space and keeps the room feeling open.

A kids’ bathroom should feel fun, but it should also grow with the family—and this one balances both.

Allow me to reintroduce myself—I’m Isabella Ehrlich, Principal Designer of Milk + Honey Group and a licensed GC. I love this photo of me because it captures me in my happiest place - on site at a project during construction, studying light and manipulating space to be beautiful and functional. All with my trusted dog Ladybird by my side.

Design has always been a part of my story. Coming from a family of architects and artists—including my grandfather, Lawrence Perkins, a founding partner of Perkins & Will, and my great-grandfather, Dwight Heald Perkins, who shared an office with Frank Lloyd Wright—it’s safe to say creativity is in my DNA.

After a 15+ year career as a creative director in retail marketing, I transitioned into interior design and general contracting, where I’ve channeled my passion for home restoration and design into something truly meaningful. My experience includes time spent at the Metropolitan Museum, focusing on Decorative Arts, four years on the Historic Districts Commission in Concord, MA and leading a design team at Pottery Barn in San Francisco.

Over the years, I’ve built a trusted team of builders, artisans, and tradespeople, each carefully selected for their craftsmanship, reliability, and attention to detail. I oversee every step of the process, combining my Ivy League education with a hands-on approach to ensure each project is seamless and thoughtfully executed.

At Milk + Honey Group, we specialize in blending traditional New England architecture with a fresh, contemporary California aesthetic. The result? Warm, inviting, and eminently livable spaces that stand the test of time. Whether you’re looking to renovate and stay or refresh before you sell, we focus on creating homes that you’ll adore and designs that maximize your investment.

I’m grateful to do what I love—bringing a sense of harmony, beauty, and purpose to every project. Let’s create something special together!

I truly believe that you can feel the soul of my clients in their finished homes. These clients - now cherished friends - are kind, stylish, social justice minded changemakers and have supported me and my growing business for years. Serial renovators, we tackled one poorly designed section of the house one year, then moved on to the next. Ever trusting, always collaborative, I am deeply grateful for their investment in me and my team.

This house represents our commitment to our core strength - investing in the architecture, layout and flow of a home over all other elements. You can see from the before that it was nothing short of transformed. The house exudes warmth and celebrates family- just like the clients who live there.

Somehow clients who love design and reimagining find us. So while I’m sad that this project - after many years - is done, I know these friends will call me for the next adventure. Thank you T and L.

This client loves color, and we love designing homes that fully embrace it. Remember our green wet bar? It’s the same home!

This sunroom was reimagined as a playroom, but not in the traditional sense. The space sits directly off the formal dining room, so it needed to feel cohesive with the home’s rich, color-drenched blue palette while still serving a very real family function. “Kid room” was not the brief.

Instead, we focused on a layered, collected feel—one that feels intentional, cozy, and elevated. Thoughtfully integrated storage allows toys to disappear when the dining room is in use, preserving the room’s calm and polished character. The result is a space that works hard for everyday life while still honoring the design integrity of the home.

Designing for real families means creating rooms that adapt, evolve, and never feel like an afterthought.

Millwork is the foundation of a well-designed kitchen. Because a kitchen is never one-size-fits-all — maybe you’re a self-proclaimed baker, maybe you have a big family (or a small one), or maybe entertaining is your love language. Custom cabinetry and built-in storage are what make that daily rhythm feel seamless. Your version of at-home peace starts with a kitchen designed precisely for how you live.

Head to our website to book a consultation with Isabella, and let’s get started on your kitchen in 2026!
