Conserving and respecting the land is part of the L+S ethos. Last night, our principal Andrea Korber hosted the “Cocktails & Conversation: Introduction to AVLT” event at her home in support of Aspen Valley Land Trust. Attendees learned more about this organization which has been an L+S partner for the better part of two decades. Our design studio believes that development and conservation can coexist in a world with smart planning. Thanks to AVLT for including our rich architectural heritage in that plan; the rain didn’t dampen any spirits and in addition to supporting a great local non-profit, food and drink were flowing and a good time was had by all!

We just got the photo selects back from our Carbondale Aquatics Center project, which were taken by the fantastic Fernando Gomes and, while pool season is wrapped for now, we can’t get over how cool our glass blocks look, inside and out. We hope the community enjoys our efforts to combine art and architecture all year long!

Our Little Red School House Early Childhood Education project in Snowmass Village achieved a major milestone today. We had the pleasure of observing a crew of 15 people, seven concrete trucks and a pump truck eloquently direct the flow of concrete into the footprint of the new building. This is a complex process; everyone is on the clock given the nature of concrete's finite window for mixing, delivering, placing, working and smoothing this robust material before it becomes the solid mass that people will ultimately experience. The sky was clear and the weather conditions couldn't have been more ideal! Shout out to RA Nelson LLC and the construction team for a great pour day. We whooped a little when the brick façade was built, but we really danced a happy dance seeing friends and family coming and going for a swim at the Carbondale Aquatics Center during this hot, HOT summer. This season reminded us why it’s all worth it. Thank you, Carbondale.

In our “Passion Project” radical remodel, L+S principal Korber worked to ensure that architecture was a quiet backdrop for the homeowner’s personality to shine through in the interior design, focusing on restraint and subtlety of architectural moves. The trick of this project was bringing an aesthetic of minimalism to a quirky, DIY home. In its finished form and before and after images, it’s unrecognizable, and proof that reuse can be successful even when some would call the property a tear-down.

One of our recent undertakings, a radical remodel, became known as our “Passion Project” house due to the amount of heart and soul the team poured into salvaging this unique home. The result is seamless and we’re proud of the collaboration with Robyn Scott Interiors It’s now featured in the mid-Summer 2026 edition of Aspen Magazine. Read more here:
