Summer on the Monterey Peninsula means one thing: time to get outside.

We're sharing three of our favorite outdoor projects this season, each one a reminder that great outdoor space isn't about how many features you pack in; it's about designing around how a family actually lives.

- A small city lot that felt cramped, until we reoriented the garage and unlocked 1,200 sq ft of yard for a bocce court, putting green, fire pit, and a view deck with ocean views nobody expected.
- A 1925 English Tudor, where we worked with the historical review board to restore original steel windows and doors, then built a fire pit and bench facing the home's turret.
- A modest garden transformed into terraced living spaces; complete with a sauna, a fire terrace with heated chairs, and a custom arbor built from salvaged old-growth redwood.

We transformed this home inside and out. Their refreshed property included a kitchen built for gathering to a fully self-sufficient Tesla solar shingle roof. Modern farmhouse style with every detail thought through.

Seas The Day | Carmel-by-the-Sea

This 1941 Organic Cottage came to us with charm, history, and a list of needs.

The clients wanted leveled floors, foundation repair, new hardwood floors, a kitchen and bath remodel, refinished plaster walls, new interior doors, a replacement for the corner window, and smarter storage.

In a home under 1,000 square feet, every decision mattered.

Our team focused on opening up the way the home was lived in. We removed part of the wall between the kitchen and living area, added a kitchen island, vaulted the ceilings in both spaces, and moved the laundry out of the kitchen into its own dedicated space.

The before-and-afters show how much has changed without losing what made the cottage special.

The finished home feels more open, more functional, and more personal. Color, pattern, plaster, hardwood, and natural materials came together to honor the home’s Organic Cottage roots while making daily life easier for the clients.
