We are celebrating our 35th Anniversary this year with a major showroom remodel, the introduction of new high performance stereo brands, new leading edge technology products, and new ownership dedicated to re-launching this iconic brand as Indy’s ‘go-to’ stereo store for music lovers of all ages, and as the place to go for electronic system design and expert installation services. Founded in 1986

by Gary McCormick, at its height Ovation grew to 9 stores with a well deserved reputation for selling premium stereo and video brands, delivering first class customer service and always showcasing the latest in home entertainment technologies. Ovation was named to the Top Ten AV Retailers in the country ten times in twenty years. In late 2015, Bob Poynter, Ovation’s new owner, noticed a gaping hole in the Indianapolis stereo store landscape such that most purveyors of AV services now concentrate solely on delivering custom design and installation contracting services at the expense of maintaining a fully functional showroom with dedicated music listening rooms where customers can sit back and really listen and compare to find the right stereo system for their musical tastes. We also offer a full menu of custom designed and installed technology and entertainment systems for both residential and business customers with a particular specialty in dedicated home theaters, dedicated music listening rooms and wireless whole house music and entertainement systems. Jerry Garcia's ‘Budman’ McIntosh MC2300 Amplifier Sold for $381,000

Sold at auction at Christie’s on March 12, 2026 for $381,000, this legendary amplifier remains one of the most iconic pieces in Grateful Dead history. The Dead were one of the most culturally significant bands and they relied on a stage full of McIntosh amplifiers to help them perform their music to their standards.

Crew member “Big” Steve Parish said: “When the MC2300 power amp came out we bought 70 of them, and put them throughout the system, but this is the one that Jerry liked the best and he played through it for years… At some point, Ram Rod stuck that Budweiser Budman sticker on it one day and it’s instantly recognizable as Jerry’s.”
