Come behind the scenes with us on this full exterior remodel in Villa Rica, Georgia! 🏠
The old siding has been removed, the new windows are in, and the home is completely wrapped and ready for its new Harbor Gray vinyl siding.
Why did we install the windows first? The siding and house wrap need to fit properly around them to help protect the home from water and weather.
We’re also replacing the soffit and fascia. Those little holes in the soffit allow fresh air to enter the attic and escape through the top of the roof, helping the entire roofing system breathe.
New windows, siding, soffit, and fascia are giving this home a complete exterior transformation. We can’t wait to show you the finished result!

If you’re planning several exterior projects, the order you do them in really matters!

Most of the time, we work from the top down and start with the roof. But every project is different. On this home, we’re replacing the soffit and fascia first so the drip edge and new roof can be installed correctly.

We’re also replacing some of the windows and doors while we install the new siding. This allows everything to be properly flashed and sealed before the siding goes on.

That’s one advantage of choosing one qualified contractor to handle your roof, siding, windows, and doors. We can make sure every part of the project works together from beginning to end!

You generally should not install a metal roof directly over shingles because it can hide existing problems and shorten the life of the new roof.

* The shingles can trap extreme heat and begin to “cook” the underside of the metal, eventually breaking down and destroying its protective coating.
* The rough shingles can rub against the metal as it expands and contracts, wearing away the coating.
* The old shingles may hide rotten or damaged roof decking.
* Heat and moisture can become trapped between the two roofing systems.
* The uneven shingles can cause the metal panels to look wavy.
* Fasteners may not anchor properly into the roof decking.
* Future leaks can be much harder to locate and repair.
* Installing metal over shingles may affect the metal manufacturer’s warranty.

Installing metal over shingles is permitted in some situations when the existing roof and decking are in excellent condition and the correct underlayment or framing system is used. However, a full tear-off gives the roofer the opportunity to inspect the decking, fix hidden damage, and provide the new metal roof with the best possible foundation.

If you see water damage like this inside your home, the problem could actually be coming from your roof. 🏠💧

This homeowner had a leak around their chimney, and over time, that water made its way down into the walls and subfloor.

The problem? The flashing around the chimney wasn’t installed correctly. Instead of having the proper layers of metal to keep water out, they just used caulk.

Caulk eventually fails. And when it does, water can get behind the chimney and travel much farther than you might expect.

That’s why a small roof leak can turn into a much bigger repair inside your home.

If you notice water stains or damage around your chimney, have the roof checked before you just repair what you can see inside.

🌳 When was the last time you looked UP at your roof?

We installed this roof about 5 years ago, so when the homeowner called about a leak in their master bedroom, we knew something wasn’t right.

The problem? A tree limb had grown over the house and was laying directly on the roof. Over time, wind and storms caused the branches to rub against the shingles, eventually damaging them enough to cause a leak.

Even a newer roof can be damaged when tree limbs are constantly rubbing against it.

🏠 Here’s an easy homeowner tip: Every once in a while, step outside and look at your roof, especially the back and areas you don’t normally see.

If you notice tree limbs touching or hanging directly over your roof, have them trimmed back before they cause damage.

A little maintenance now could save you from a roof repair later!

Have you ever seen little spots or divots all over your roof? đź‘€

This is called roof blistering.

As shingles get older, heat and moisture can cause them to start breaking down. Poor roof ventilation can make the problem worse.

You can see the little divots all over this roof. The shingles have gotten so worn and brittle that even a small roof repair could be hard to do. When you try to lift the shingles, they may crack or crumble.

Good roof ventilation helps control heat and moisture and can help your roof last longer.

If your roof looks like this, it may be time to have it checked!

If you have trees really close to your house, this is a good example of why you may want to have them trimmed back. 🌳

A tree fell on this home a couple of weeks ago and did quite a bit of damage to the roof. They’ve also had other limbs hit the roof in the past, and you can see where repairs have already been made.

One thing to keep in mind with roof repairs like this is that the new shingles probably aren’t going to match the older shingles perfectly. If that’s something that would bother you, it may be worth considering a new roof instead of having several different repaired areas.

You don’t have to cut down every tree around your house, but keeping limbs trimmed back can save you from a much bigger problem later.

And if you have a lot of trees, it’s completely fine to tackle them in phases!

🚨 We found several problems on this roof in Carrollton, Georgia… and one of them really surprised us.

Some of these issues may look small, but they can lead to roof leaks and costly damage inside your home.

This is also a good reminder that the cheapest roofing estimate isn’t always the best deal.

Watch as we walk this roof and show you what we found. 👀🏠

Knowing what to look for can help you ask the right questions before you hire a roofer.

This farmhouse flip just got a MAJOR upgrade! 🏡🔨

We gave this old farmhouse a fresh start from the top down. We removed the unusable chimneys, replaced rotten plywood, and finished it off with a brand-new roof using Atlas Pinnacle® Pristine shingles in Black Shadow. 🖤

It’s amazing what a new roof can do for the entire look of a home… and this farmhouse is looking GOOD! 👏

🚨 ROOFING PSA: Be careful who you let on your roof.

Door knockers are out in full force right now, and unfortunately, we recently saw firsthand why homeowners need to be cautious.

A friend of ours had someone knock on his door claiming they could see roof damage from the ground and could probably get his roof approved through insurance.

The problem? We had inspected that same roof about a month earlier and knew there wasn’t storm damage.

After the door knocker got on the roof, he came back down claiming he found damage to 25+ shingles. Matt went over to take a look, and what he found was man made damage.

A reputable roofer can usually tell the difference between legitimate storm damage and damage caused by a person, and insurance adjusters know what to look for too.

So here’s your reminder: If something feels off, don’t let someone on your roof. You have every right to say no.

Call a local roofer you know and trust and have them take a look instead. And if you believe someone intentionally damaged your roof, contact your insurance company to discuss your options.

We hate that this happened to our friend, but we wanted to share it because a lot of homeowners probably don’t even realize this happens.

Now you know. 🏠🔨
