This painting is one I created some time ago, and it’s always felt like it was never quite finished. Every time I looked at it, I knew there was something more it needed—but I couldn’t see exactly what.
Lately, I’ve been looking at it with fresh eyes, and it reminds me of the lush beauty and vibrant colors of Jamaica. And for the first time, I know what it needs.
Sometimes a painting just needs time. As artists grow, we notice things we couldn’t see before. What once seemed incomplete suddenly becomes clear, and we’re able to bring the vision to life in a new way.
The more I think about it, the more I’m reminded that God works that way in us too. He is never finished with us. He patiently shapes us, refines us, and adds layer upon layer of grace, beauty, and purpose in His perfect timing.
As I return this piece to the easel, I’m reminded of the promise in Philippians 1:6: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
I’m excited to see where this painting goes from here—and grateful that God isn’t finished with any of us yet. ❤️
Creating gentle reminders to pause and see God’s beauty all around us. 🌿🎨
