Scotland Color Story | A Designer’s Palette Abroad

Wandering through the moody landscapes and textured interiors of Scotland was like stepping into a living color wheel 🎨✨

From the deep emeralds of Highland moss to the saturated amber tones dancing off aged stone walls, every corner whispered design inspiration. As an interior designer, I couldn’t help but mentally layer these hues into fabrics, wall treatments, and curated corners of a dream home.

Scotland didn’t just paint a picture — it taught me how to layer emotion with texture, and create warmth through contrast. This Reel is more than a travel diary — it’s a mood board brought to life. 🌫🏡💫

🌍 Interior design is storytelling — and Scotland? She told me to design boldly.

Layering isn’t just a design principle, it’s a lifestyle.
It’s about building a home that feels collected, cozy, and uniquely yours. From textures to tones to personal treasures, layering creates depth that never goes out of style.

That’s why every LINEN + ORCHID project is rooted in layered living.

At the Townsan Project, the primary bath was all about balance: timeless finishes, spa-inspired function, and storage that feels seamless. ✨

We layered soft floral wallpaper, custom oak cabinetry, and brass details to create a bathroom that feels both luxurious and livable.

That’s the power of intentional design — making everyday routines feel like an elevated experience.

Design Inspiration from Scotland & Ireland 🌿
Travel is one of my greatest sources of inspiration. Next month, I’ll be heading to Scotland and Ireland to explore rich architecture, timeless textures, and landscapes that feel like they were painted by hand.

Every trip reminds me why design is more than aesthetics — it’s about capturing a feeling and bringing it into the home. I can’t wait to share the details and inspiration with you!

👉 Stay tuned here and on the blog for my Travel Like Janet series.

You don’t need to have all the answers—that’s my job. As a full-service designer, I guide clients through every decision, every detail, and every step of the process.

What I love most? Seeing that transformation come to life and watching the relief (and joy!) on my clients’ faces when they realize they don’t have to do it alone.

Every project tells a story.

For the Townsan Project, our client’s main goal was to modernize without losing character. We layered moody colors, timeless finishes, and small-space upgrades that packed a big punch.

The best part? Watching the homeowner see the transformation in person — the smile said it all. 🙌🏻

Feeling stuck in your renovation? Or maybe overwhelmed by too many Pinterest boards and not enough clarity?

In my latest blog post, I’m pulling back the curtain on what full-service interior design really looks like — and why it pays off in more ways than you might expect.

From concept to completion, full-service means every decision is intentional — and nothing gets left to chance. I’m also sharing a conceptual project, The Quail Hill Concept, that shows just how impactful thoughtful design can be when it’s done right.

Let’s be honest — white and gray aren’t going anywhere.

But there’s something about moody, earthy tones that just feel right this year.

Maybe it’s the calm they bring.
Maybe it’s the way they add depth and soul to a space.

Either way, I’m leaning into this color palette more than ever, and in my latest blog I’m sharing the "why" behind it — and how you can use these tones intentionally in your own home.

From softened blacks to warm clay and forest green, these aren’t trendy — they’re timeless.
