🌳 New Arrival: A Pedestal with Serious Standards 🌳

This solid oak pedestal just arrived, and it's already looking down on the rest of the furniture.

Literally.

With its handsome barley-twist column and beautifully carved base, this piece was born to elevate things. Plants look better on it. Statues look more important on it. Even a bowl of keys starts acting like it's museum worthy.

We're pretty sure this pedestal has only one purpose in life: to support others while quietly stealing all the attention.

Features include:
• Solid oak construction
• Beautifully turned spiral column
• Exceptional craftsmanship
• An unhealthy amount of confidence

Whether you're displaying a treasured antique, a sculpture, or simply trying to make your houseplants feel more distinguished, this pedestal is ready to take your décor to the next level.

You could say it's a stand-up piece.

You could also say it's oak-ay, but we wouldn't recommend that!

Come and get a sneak peek before it lands on the new website!

🚨 Breaking News: Our website has finally entered this century.

After years of loyal service, our old website has been gently retired to the same place where many of our antiques came from... history. 📜

www.streetsoflondonantiques.com

We're excited to introduce our brand-new website — faster, easier to navigate, and much prettier to look at (if we do say so ourselves).
You'll find the evergrowing collection of beautiful antiques, vintage treasures, and one-of-a-kind finds, just with far fewer clicks and much less head-scratching.

Think of it as a restoration project: we've kept all the character, but upgraded the functionality.

Take a look around, discover something unexpected, and let us know what you think in the comments. We'd love your feedback.

✨ A Desk That Didn’t Need Saving… Just a New Address ✨

Every now and then, an antique arrives at the shop that makes you think, “Well, somebody took very good care of you.” ❤️

This magnificent roll top desk came to us already beautifully restored and exceptionally well looked after. We simply gave it a thorough clean and conditioning to freshen things up and prepare it for its next chapter.

And what a desk it is…

✨ Gorgeous warm wood
✨ Wonderful carved details
✨ A satisfying roll-top
✨ More drawers and compartments than anyone could possibly need
✨ And enough character to make doing paperwork feel almost respectable.

We can’t promise it will make answering emails more enjoyable.
But it will make you look considerably more important while doing it.
Whether it becomes a home office, writing desk, paperwork headquarters, or simply the place where you hide from your family, this beauty is ready.

A beautiful old desk lovingly cared for, ready for a brand-new life. Now looking for its next home.

✨ NEW FIND — A KOREAN WEDDING CHEST WITH A STORY ✨

Every once in a while, something comes into the shop that makes us stop in our tracks.

This is one of those pieces.

Our newest find is this spectacular Korean wedding chest.
Built from richly grained hardwood and lavishly dressed in aged brass, this isn't your ordinary storage trunk. The chest is covered in wonderful hand-worked hardware, brass straps, corner plates, bosses, elaborate handles and a beautifully substantial central fastening, all giving it an almost architectural presence.

Known as a bandaji, this type of Korean chest was traditionally used to store clothing, bedding and precious household possessions. Particularly handsome examples were associated with weddings and the bride's trousseau, becoming treasured pieces of household furniture and family history.

Come and see this extraordinary piece and more at Streets of London Antiques and experience another time like never before.

💖French Pottery with a Past✨

Before “perfectly imperfect” became a decorating trend, 19th-century French potters were already doing it naturally.

Hand-thrown, generously proportioned and covered in wonderfully earthy glazes, these pieces were made for real French kitchens and country homes — for storing, pouring, serving and living.
Confit pots originated in the rural regions of southern France where they were used to preserve food before refrigeration. The glazed upper portion prevented absorption of fats and liquids, while the unglazed lower section helped keep contents cool when partially buried in cellar floors.

And after 100+ years, they’ve developed the one thing a reproduction can never quite manufacture: character.

The little variations in shape. The uneven glaze. The marks of use. The occasional chip or bit of wear. Every piece tells you it wasn’t made yesterday — and that’s precisely the point.

We have a fabulous collection of 19th-century French pottery in the shop right now.

Come find the piece that looks like it has always belonged in your kitchen.

A few things that caught our eye today… 👀

No theme. No particular reason. Just some rather fabulous things currently hanging around the shop.

Because sometimes you don't need a shopping list.

You just need 30 seconds, a curious mind, and an antique shop. 😉

Come have a wander this weekend and see what catches your eye.

Streets of London Antiques — where there's always something you didn't expect to find.

🐶 Happy National Dog Day! 🐶

Dogs have excellent taste. How do we know? Because if they could decorate, they’d skip the flat-pack furniture and go straight for antiques.

Take our distinguished fellows guarding our treasured books and the amazing vintage lamp. They clearly understand that every room deserves:
📚 A stack of handsome old books
🦴 Elegant antique bookends
🖼️ Character-filled vintage art
💡 Lighting with more personality than most people’s entire living rooms

Unlike chew toys, antique treasures only get better with age. (And they rarely disappear under the sofa.)

Celebrate National Dog Day by treating yourself to something timeless. Your dog may not appreciate a 19th-century engraving or a vintage lamp—but they'll certainly enjoy napping beside them while you admire your excellent taste.

🐾 Stop by the shop and fetch something extraordinary today!

There’s lighting… and then there’s lighting with personality. 💡✨

Why settle for a lamp that simply turns on when you can have one that makes an entrance?

From glowing floral, hand painted, glass and converted oil lamps to elegant bouillotte styles, Hollywood Regency drama and a splash of Tiffany-style color, these vintage beauties prove that lighting can be just as much a piece of art as it is practical.

We love antique and vintage lamps because no two seem to have quite the same personality. Some are refined, some are wonderfully over-the-top, and some look like they’ve been waiting decades for their next starring role.

So, just for fun…Which one are you taking home? 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5? 👀

And remember — “all of them” is a perfectly acceptable answer.
Come in and ask for Tony! He'll help fill your car up. 😁
They will all be online very soon! Keep your eyes peeled for our new look website also coming soon!!

A little late-summer antique inspiration… 🌿🍐

There’s something about this time of year that calls for a table that feels a little less perfect and a little more collected.

Old copper, handmade glass, well-loved serving pieces, vintage baskets and beautiful porcelain all seem particularly at home alongside late-summer flowers, fruit and greenery.

The wonderful thing about antiques is that they don’t need to match. In fact, the more collected the table feels, the better.

Mix the polished with the worn, the elegant with the rustic, and pieces that have been around for 100 years with things you picked from the garden this morning.

Which antique would always have a place on your table? Let us know in the comments. 😊

Tiny Tables, Big Personalities!!

Apparently, apartments are getting smaller… but thankfully, good taste doesn’t need much square footage. 😄

We absolutely love these characterful space savers — and judging by how quickly they disappear from the shop, so has everyone else.

Side tables, wine tables, lamp tables, occasional tables, nesting tables, little carved tables, marble-topped tables… basically, if it’s charming and you can tuck it into a corner, we’re interested.

They’re perfect for today’s smaller homes because they can squeeze in beside a chair, hold a drink, support a lamp, display something fabulous, or simply occupy that awkward little spot where a full-sized piece of furniture would require planning permission.

And unlike a giant dining table, you can usually find room for just one more. 😉

We currently have a great selection in store in all sorts of periods, woods, shapes and styles — from elegant and refined to wonderfully quirky.

Small footprint. Surprisingly useful. Absolutely no shortage of character.

Come have a look before the tiny-table enthusiasts beat you to them!
