The first round of this winter’s yarn is starting to come in. This is Malabrigo‘s newest yarn, Torzal in the colourway “Van Gough’s Sunflowers“. Sport weight, with a handspun feel. It’s hand feels like a merino/silk blend but is actually 100% superwash merino. It’s a great new yarn to play with and I have a couple of free patterns for it. There are 14 different colourways, and a million options to make something amazing!

It’s Tuesday, so we got an update. This time on the Technicolour Dream Coat.

Today’s progress. The back is almost sewn together. It isn’t complicated, but it does require good light for choosing colours and time to sew each square to every other square.

Here’s the weaving I’m working on today. A pinloom patchwork… something. I started off making a car coat, but now I’m thinking long sleeved, funnel neck tunic. I’m being indecisive, but there are maybe 200 squares all together so I have options.

A little while ago I took a leap of faith and answered a call for submission by Nevada County Arts & Culture and the California Arts Council to become a 2026 Fellow with the Upstate Individual Artists Fellowship. I was chosen to be one of 15 Northern California artists to join together as the 2026 cohort. It’s an honor to represent Modoc County, and Surprise Valley and I hope this will help get the word out to the world that we have an art community on par with anywhere in California! I look forward to meeting the other Fellows and finding great ways for us to collaborate.
