Tips For Front Porch Decorating🍂
Planting mums? Or,,, Potting Mums? Which of the two do you like for your front porch or yard?
There are a few things to consider when deciding whether to plant mums in the ground or in pots in the fall, including:
🍂 Type of mum
Garden mums are perennials that can survive light fall frosts and return year after year, while florist mums are usually annuals and won't survive the winter.
Maintenance🍂
Potted mums require more water and are more susceptible to freeze damage than mums planted in the ground. However, potted mums can be moved around more easily and overwintered.
Location🍂
Mums need at least six hours of direct sun per day, but in very hot and dry areas, they may need some shade in the afternoon.
Soil🍂
Mums should be planted in well-drained soil.
Pinching🍂
To encourage branching, you can pinch off the tips of the plant a few times between late spring and early.
