Then, Rio Grande weavers quenched a deep thirst for color, harmony and spirituality by weaving for family, church and community.

Visit our more than 100 year old weaving studio & showroom to see a glimpse of time when the Rio Grande weaving tradition maintained village artisans through long cold winters. Tierra Wools is a spinning, hand dyeing, hand weaving workshop, and retail store. We buy/carry local wool, and weave yarn into beautiful weavings which are sold from our workshop in Los Ojos, a small village in rural Rio Ar

riba County in northern New Mexico. The enterprise is operated by Los Ojos Handweavers, LLC, a limited liability company owned by the growers, spinners and hand weavers that produce its goods, as well as supporting investors.

We were pleased to have local, and out of state students this past week here at Terra Wools. For some students learning to weave can be a transformative process, a creative exploration into what we sometimes don’t ever get to experience. Being a part of those individual journeys is what keeps us motivated to continue teaching.

A weaver’s most valuable tools are their hands. We use them to shear, wash, spin, and dye the wool, bringing our creations to life. It is important to appreciate these tactile experiences and the gifts the world provides us.
