What happens after your pottery wheel class? 🤔

Most guests see the fun part: throwing clay on the wheel.

But a lot happens behind the scenes before your piece is ready to glaze!

A few days after class, every wheel piece comes back into our clay studio for trimming day. Our team carefully:

✨ Cleans up the bottom
✨ Creates a smooth beveled foot
✨ Engraves the creator's name into the clay
✨ Prepares the piece for drying and firing

After trimming, pieces spend at least a week drying before heading into the kiln for their first firing at over 1,900°F.

Then we unload, process, and organize everything so you can return to paint your pottery with colorful glazes before its final firing.

These photos show just one trimming session in our Chandler studio. Every tray represents someone who decided to try something new and create something with their own hands. ❤️

Fresh from the kiln at Burst of Butterflies Chandler! 🔥✨

One of the most exciting parts of our week is opening the kilns and seeing what our guests created.

This load was packed with creativity... from a hand-painted floral butter dish and wildflower vase to a cheerful birthday plate, a snack-loving frog, a beautifully detailed beetle bowl, and even a blueberry-inspired creation. 🌸🐸🪲🫐

Every piece started as a blank canvas and became something completely unique.
