Auf Wiedersehen Thanksgiving and Willkommen Christmas! Our household countdown has officially begun!

As I've been embracing my German roots more and more, I'm learning the language more and finding out more and more how much I love Christmas.

Did you know a lot of customs and traditions originate from Germany?

Today's fun fact:

The Advent Calendar - or 𝐴𝑑𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠𝑘𝑎𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟 - was invented in Germany! As was the Advent Wreath, or
𝐴𝑑𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠𝑘𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑧, which is often made with evergreen branches and has four candles. On each of the (4) Sundays before Christmas, one more candle is lit, until all four candles are burning. 🕯

That being shared, it's time for the turtles!

Good afternoon, lovelies!

Halloween is over (😥) and now Thanksgiving 🦃 and Christmas 🎄 are both just around the corner! 🤗

I am excited to hopefully work on some new Christmas items to share with you! I have a few in mind already, but in the last few months, I have prioritized the crocheting less unless it has been for a custom request or an order, so I will do what I reasonably can!

SO - in light of the holiday season approaching, as well as recent events I'm sure most of us are aware of, from now until Christmas, Nyknaks By Nyk will be taking 10% of each sale and donating it to our local church's food pantry.

So if you're looking for stuffed animals or toys to gift this holiday season, please remember Nyknaks as an option - we would love to give back through this time of year! 💕

Life has been busy and the crochet corner has been slow!

BUT I am working slowly on new items and working on orders as they come in.

And with that I want to say thank you SO much for this custom request!

I received the first picture with a request to make this item. After tweaking a pre-existing pattern and freehanding the bag - I'm happy to say this request was successfully brought to life!

I absolutely ADORE how these turned out!

I wasn't 100% confident going into this one, but I was 100% determined.

I probably never would have handpicked this project myself. But this request gave me a challenge and I am SO happy to tackle challenges at the request of others. And I absolutely ADORE him! 😭 And I'll definitely be making one to keep as well as adding him to the website available for ordering! 🥹🤭
