Comment "dresser" and I'll send you the links for everything g I used to get this finish.

Remember that acetone video that took on a life of its own? 😂

Well, this is the dresser!!

She started out dark, tired, and pretty easy to overlook. But underneath all that finish were beautiful wood grain, carved details, and these old glass k***s.

And honestly? I think the natural wood was the right choice for her.

One of my favorite things about refinishing furniture is that you’re not always creating something new. Sometimes you’re just uncovering what was there all along. 🤎

Tell me: would you have saved this dresser, or walked right past it?

If you’re new to furniture refinishing, let me save you a few headaches. 😂🙌

There are SO many things I wish someone had explained to me when I started refinishing furniture 10 years ago. Things that would’ve saved me time, money, and probably a few choice words along the way.

Because here’s the thing: you don’t always know what questions to ask until you’re halfway through a project and something goes wrong!

So I’m starting a little “You Asked, I’m Answering” series to share what I’ve learned along the way and help you feel more confident tackling your own projects.

We’re talking sanding, stripping, staining, painting, and all the little things that can make the difference between a finish you love and one that makes you want to throw the whole piece out the window.

Whether you’re brand new to refinishing or you’ve been doing it for a while, I hope you find something helpful here!

📌 SAVE this post for your next project, and tell me in the comments: What’s one furniture refinishing question you’ve always wanted answered?

I might cover it in the next post!

Welcome to CRAFTY GIRL MATH. 😂🎃

I saw a $25 pumpkin at Target and thought, “Absolutely not. I can make that myself.”

So I spent $9.99 on a craft pumpkin, $7.99 on mica powder, $4 worth of air-dry clay, and $5 worth of furniture paint I already had.

Total: $26.98

But the paint was already in my house. I have leftover mica powder for future projects. And I made it MYSELF.

So basically, I got a free pumpkin. 😂😂😂

Don’t question my math. It’s a gift.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this. 👇🏻

Okay, I know a lot of you probably already know this… BUT if no one ever told you, let me save your next sanding project.

If your sanding disc starts getting clogged with buildup, it’s time to change it!

Keep sanding with a clogged disc, and you risk leaving swirl marks in your wood that can show up BIG TIME when you apply stain. And trust me, nobody wants to put all that work into a piece just to have those marks staring back at you.

Sometimes it’s not your technique. It’s your sandpaper!

Save this for your next furniture flip or send it to someone who's just starting out. And follow along for more furniture refinishing tips without judgement. Because we all start somewhere! ❤️

Some pieces are just too pretty to touch! A friend gave me her grandmother's singer sewing table and it was an incredible condition!
There was one small wooden piece that needed to be repaired because it helps the sewing machine foot function properly. Other than that, I simply gave the wood one coat of Colonial Maple gel stain to bring the color back to life.

And honestly? That’s all she needed.

The original wood, carved details, hardware and that gorgeous old Singer base deserved to stay exactly what they were.

Sometimes restoration isn’t about changing a piece. It’s about knowing when to leave the beautiful stuff alone.

I'm thinking small writing desk or entryway table. Where would you use it? 👇🏻👇🏻
