✨️Behind-the-design: Deep Blue Den 👀

After gracing the latest cover of , we had to give this room a moment 😉

From the rich blue-teal hue and inlaid wood ceiling to the mix of new pieces with vintage treasures, this room was an absolute joy to design. A plush but polished family-friendly space, it quickly became one of our favorite rooms in this award-winning home design.

We're taking you through every part of this soulful and deeply-personalized room (including the hidden ensuite!) over on the blog. Design choices, furnishings, flow, function, and inspiration- we're sharing it all.

📣 🥳 IT'S OFFICIAL!
She's an award-winning home 🎉🎉

Last weekend, The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) held their annual conference, where we took home The Platinum Award for Design Excellence. It's the highest honor we could receive, and it filled us with so much gratitude and joy to see this home celebrated.

A project that began as a life-long dream for our clients, this was the house they always wanted: perfect to carry them through retirement with ease, and lovingly designed for time with family, connection to the outdoors, and space to make memories (especially in the grandkids suite 🥰). They shared their vision with us, and we worked to bring their dream to life with intention, care, skill, and heart. This large-scale custom estate home design was a full team effort, including our amazing trade partners and . But the biggest thank you goes to our wonderful clients, for allowing us the privilege to create their dream.

So much love and thanks to our INCREDIBLE photographer and Stylist .d team, who beautifully captured the soul of this home.

🤩👀 The cover of , featuring yours truly 🎉🎉

We always say that we want to let the work speak for itself, because that's where our heart is. As a team and a business, we put our soul into making homes that are just what our clients have always dreamed of- the spaces that bring them joy every day.

That said...it never hurts to see your work on the cover of one of your favorite national design magazines 😉

Seeing this on the stands all over High Point Furniture Market will be surreal (and exciting). We love this feature, because it speaks to who we are and why we do this work. And, it includes our most trusted team mantra: "Plan the work; work the plan" (trademark pending 😄). It's what brings dream homes like this one to life.

A HUGE thank you to two people who made this possible:
Our Photographer, AND our Stylist, .d. They are AMAZING, and we celebrate their talent daily.

The dedicated home office ✨️✍️

If you've been with us for a moment, you known that designing a home office is something we approach with nothing less than true gusto and delight. We see it as an impactful space for our clients because in the WFH era, so many of us spend the majority of our time in this room. Over our years of working with clients, we have come to understand the home office to be a space where thoughtful, intentional design can create a ripple effect. Not just for better function (although that is key as well), but for overall quality of life. Simple, strategic changes can make a world of difference. Natural Light. Comfortable seating. Warmth, personality, and soul. Space for the little things that bring you joy.

When we look at this room, we see such a deep reflection of our wonderful client. The undertone of warmth with hints of curious color and shape. A full wall of custom built-ins to display meaningful family heirlooms and mementos from her world adventures with her sweet family. Mid-century style to align with the full home design, but with her signature sophistication and grace in every detail.

This is always the goal. Meeting our client's vision with deep creativity and personalization. Rooms that function so effortlessly they feel like an extension of you.

ALLL the joyful vibes here ✨️ Shape, pattern, texture. Mid-century soul, but with vibrance. Books tucked-in everywhere. And, the magic of a rich teal ceiling 🔥 😍

One of our goals with this house was to take this new build (call it a blank slate, if you will) and transform it into the perfect place for this family to call home. This curious-minded and adventurous family values the importance of home, and surroundings that feel complete, expressive, and aligned to who they are.

An interesting part of this project? We were oceans apart from these clients during nearly the entire design process. They were planning a move back to the states from living abroad, and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to create a home that was just right for them here in their much-loved college town. Fully personalized and attuned to their rhythms and preferences. Every detail carefully considered and crafted with so much care. Ready and waiting for their arrival.

THIS powder room 🔥🎉🙌

One of the many reasons we love working in tandem with a builder for custom homes is because we can create spaces like this.

A main level powder room that was tucked conveniently in between the mudroom, butler's pantry/scullery, and the main laundry room. A small space to work with, but a huge value-add in terms of functionality. But making it absolutely POP for this client even though it was the smallest room in the house? That's the kind of design challenge we love.

No corner sink quick-fix here. We drew out this custom shaped vanity and sink combination and had it created to spec for this room. Of course, we gave it some elegant shape and flow, with this unique open drop shelf to open up the space even more. Deep blue wall covering with the lightest hint of texture paired with an elegant marble counter and just the right lighting create the loveliest depth in this compact room. With the right design strategy from the very beginning, we were able to craft a space that feels collected, curated, and just a little luxurious 😉

At the heart of it, we loved designing this space with intention because it brought joy to our client. Having this design moment tucked into the busiest area of the home just made her days brighter, and that's why we do what we do.

Reader's retreat. Writing nook. Serene WFH space ✨️

A creative, elegant take on mid-century style was the foundation for this Chapel Hill home design. The upstairs landing/loft was a space of infinite possibility. The only reasonable conclusion? Fill it to the brim with interesting books, of course 🙌 And give the space purpose by creating dedicated areas where our this family could do all their favorite things in comfort.

This full-home design was a curated balance between rooms with vibrant color and more relaxed, softer spaces like this one. It was about nuance, precision, and knowing just where to add that little touch of the unexpected. These clients are the most dynamic, interesting, and truly lovely people. They have so much authenticity and depth of personality- and we wanted their home to reflect just that.

The plush chaise is the secret scene-stealer, with a funky geometric pattern done in the most subtle and refined way. We admit it- we love her 😍

Just off of this landing space is one of the two home offices that were key to this home design. It's a room to which we may also be quite partial 🤭
We can't wait to show you next week.

Primary bathroom with ALL the light ✨️

In this home featuring two primary bathrooms, the dream was to have lots of space, and lots of light. A floating tub beneath a gloriously tall window, oversized spa shower, and custom vanity with extra storage.

Our secret favorite? The marble countertop and sink. And the feathered chandelier. The heated towel rack. Possibly all of it 😍

Take a tour of this retreat-like primary suite including the primary bedroom and bathroom(s), as well as the secret personal coffee bar we designed to connect all three (Yes, you read that correctly: coffee right outside the bedroom door. Did we want to move right in there ourselves? We really did 😂).

All the details and behind-the-design goodies are up on the blog now. Go there and take a tour of this elegant, thoughtfully designed space ☀️

This primary bedroom was designed not just as a stand-alone room, but as part of a retreat-like suite of rooms that includes the bedroom, separate his and hers primary bathrooms, AND (we continue to be very excited about this part 😂) a built-in coffee bar. The cutest two person balcony off the bedroom overlooking the lake does deserve an honorable mention too... although that luxurious chaise does steal the show just a little 😉

Together, these spaces form a quiet, private side of the house that was intuitively designed for daily living with comfort, convenience, easy access to the outdoors, so much natural light, and a flow that feels effortless.

Today and tomorrow we'll be taking you on a tour of the full Primary Suite here (and on the blog!). The story behind this design, and all the details that made it a dream space for these clients.
