Left by previous owners over decades, the furniture in this historic Chapel Hill home spanned just about every era and style from the last century. And when our clients fell in love with this house, the home's history came with it- in the form of this unique furniture collection. ⁠
Having a keen eye and deep appreciation for the home's heritage, our clients asked if we could restore and reuse as many pieces as possible. Challenge accepted 🤓 🙌⁠

This dining table and chairs were an epic window into the past. As much as we appreciated this iconic look, we set out to align with our clients' vision of merging the home's historic character with their own personal style. ⁠

Warm colors and natural wood tones are making a welcome return to the design scene- but for us, these elements are always part of timeless, inviting home design. Such was the case for this Chapel Hill waterfront home, a 1963 mid-century gem with beautiful lake views and the most undeniably joyful vintage soul 🫶⁠

When we were first getting to know this client, we immediately noted her love of the home's original architecture, her bounty of fabulous vintage pieces, and her love for color. (Also, she has an adorable feline, who is also very fond of starring in our photographs 😍 🐈 )⁠

What followed was a fulfilling design process that highlighted everything unique about both the original architecture of the house, and our client herself. Warm wood tones, big windows, and soft greens and blues on the walls. Connected to the beautiful outdoor scenery, and true to the home's midcentury roots. Heirloom pieces woven throughout the design created a timeless feel in each room. We loved how this client was inclusive of all color, enjoying pops of jewel tones and rich hues that made the home feel personal and inspired.

A rare Chapel Hill waterfront home, with vintage charm we can't help but love 🚣‍♂️
Situated on the shore of Eastwood Lake and built in 1963, this house is a mid-century architectural gem with the beautiful views.

Many of us dream of homes that are relaxing, restorative, and feel connected to the outdoors. Even before there was a true name for it, biophilic design found its way into our homes through symmetry, organic materials, natural shapes (like curves) and a universal love of natural sunlight filling our rooms.⁠

We genuinely enjoy creating outdoor spaces, because we've seen how fulfilling it is for our clients. Cookouts, happy hour, mornings with coffee- these spaces give much needed restoration and revival to enjoy the outdoors. Whether it's more space for family gatherings or a respite from the busyness of everyday life, a comfortable and well-appointed outdoor space allows us to love our home even more. ⁠

A timeless, contemporary coastal home.

For this sea-loving couple, moving to NC from the beautiful beaches of New England felt like leaving part of themselves behind. Together, we created a home for them that included all the things they love about the water: a reimagined take on coastal-inspired design by artfully layering marine elements into an elegant traditional design fit for an inland home. And, including plenty of artwork and meaningful items that brought joy to their seaside souls.

One of our favorite things about this design was the great room (we could talk about that enormous window forever 😍) To create a feeling of coziness in this soaring two-story room, we brought in a deep, rich blue for the ceiling. A subtle detail, but just enough to keep the water feeling close ⛵️🐚

A functional (and beautiful) bedroom and bathroom in your historic home? We're on it 😍 ⁠

This design was all about reinvention. The vintage four-poster bed came with the house, and the rest of the room would be crafted around it, with a full tear-down and rebuild of the adjacent bathroom. ⁠
⁠
A fresh color palette on the walls and trim, new lighting, and custom drapery were the start. Linens that brought in subtle color and delicate patterns. A hint of modern flair with locally created artwork. The sweetest side table and classic brass swing-arm sconce. ⁠

Designed with intention and care, it brings all the comforts of modern living, woven into the beautiful original character and charm of this architecturally rich 100+ year old home.⁠

The result is a primary suite that works. It feels light and airy, but with all the coziness you want in a bedroom. The unique historic angles and corners feel balanced and intentional. The spaces feel cohesive and complete. It feels like home.⁠
