Every project has a messy middle, and it is not photogenic.
The tile shows up in the wrong finish. The reorder runs two weeks behind. The installer is about to set the pattern backwards and you have one morning to catch it before grout makes it permanent. A trade doesn’t show and the schedule moves under everything else.
It’s the part homeowners dread, and it is the reason our client’s hire us. I have been living in it lately. More site visits than sleep, more fire drills than posts. That is why it has been quiet here.
I would still take it. Somebody has to stand in the dust and hold the vision steady while the middle does what the middle does. You get to walk in at the end and just love it. And that’s what we will always hold for our clients. 💓

This staircase has taken weeks to build and months to plan.
Ladders, cords, tools set down mid task. This is the messy middle, the part no one photographs, where years of decisions finally become something you can put your hand on.
It is not linear. There are days of real progress and days that are three conversations and a refinement. Sometimes the drawing and the architecture disagree, and when that happens we listen to the room. Design intent drawings are a guide, not a substitute for judgment. Getting ex*****on right takes conversation between the designer and the builder in real time, so nobody is left assuming.
That is why a design should not simply be handed off. If you want it built the way it was drawn, your designer stays involved through the entire build.
We protect every decision so the finished house is delivered with as much care as went into imagining it.

Oh hello, August. The month I celebrate another year, the month I settle back into routine, and the month the colors start to shift. My slow turn toward the season.
Peridot is my birthstone and it is the perfect green for August. Not spring green, not evergreen. The one in between, yellow in one light and olive in the next. That is what this whole palette is doing.
Olive instead of lime. Indigo instead of aqua. Walnut, bone, linen that wants a sweatshirt over it by seven. A basket, a bottle of wine, the last of the fruit, a racket left against a wall. All of it belongs to summer. All of it photographed in shade.
Same season. Lower volume. And we’re savoring every moment.

Our first question is never what you like. It is how you actually live.
Who sits where on a Friday family movie night. Who comes in with their hands full. Which door nobody uses. Where the homework happens.
Answer those and the layout mostly writes itself, which is the opposite of how people assume this works.
A room this open gives you nowhere to hide a bad plan. But it demands attention be given to it so that it works for you. That’s where we come in and how we help.

How long does a furniture and decor project actually take? Longer than the before-and-after reel suggests, and every week of it is doing something for you.
A streamlined project runs about 4 to 6 months. A highly custom one, 9 to 12. The difference comes down to size, scale, complexity, lead times on custom pieces, and the one variable you control completely: how quickly decisions get made.
We built this timeline from real projects, not best-case guesses, because we’d rather you plan with real numbers than be surprised by them.

Somebody is making design decisions on your house today. It might not be you.
If it isn’t drawn, the framer decides. Or the electrician does. And they decide correctly, for code, for schedule, for the next trade. Just not for the room you pictured.
Your builder builds what’s drawn. The question is who drew it.
Before concrete, we’re drawing furniture layouts, because where your sofa lands determines where the electrical rough in goes in the slab. Before framing, we’re asking whether the room is sized for how you’ll actually use it. Through construction, we’re advocating for every decision as it comes up, in real time, so nothing gets left to the field.
The same decision costs four different amounts depending on when you make it:

On paper: an hour.
In framing: lumber and a day.
After rough in: a trade comes back.
After finish: demo.
Not every project needs us early. But if it’s custom, if it’s complicated, or if you can picture the end result and can’t draw it, that’s the call to make first.

Nobody else on your build team is drawing these. Read that again.
This is a design intent drawing set. If you’re custom building, it’s the difference between “we’ll figure it out in the field” and getting it right the first time.
Here’s what “figure it out in the field” actually costs you: change orders, man hours, delays, and a trim wall that’s almost what you wanted.
Your architect delivers permit-ready construction docs. That’s their job, and it’s where their scope ends.
Your builder builds what’s documented. If it’s not drawn, it’s a guess.
Your interior designer? This is where we live.
These drawings exist because of every decision that came before them. Trim details designed after the floor plan was studied. Tile drawn after we know exactly where your rough-ins land. It’s the level-up after “permit ready.”
Your tile installer needs it: niche placement, centerlines, transitions, no ugly cuts.
Your trim carpenter depends on it: that complex feature wall doesn’t happen from a Pinterest photo.
Your electrician works from it: lighting placed exactly, not approximately.
And if your designer doesn’t know what an RCP is? You hired a decorator, not a designer.
This is what you’re actually investing in when you hire a designer who documents. Not mood boards. Risk removed before it exists.
This is what custom interior design is supposed to mean.

POV: You're mid-renovation and it feels overwhelming — too many samples on the counter, too many opinions in your ear, too many decisions you didn't know you'd have to make — that isn't you struggling. That's a project moving without a sequence.

"Intentional" is an overused word in design. Here's what it actually means when there's this much on the line: every material, every finish, every fixture decided in the right order, at the right moment, before it costs you anything to change course.
